My Experience with Wateen USB Dongle – A Review

Being a loyal PTCL EvDO user for a few months I finally made up my mind to purchase the new Wateen USB Dongle, which I’ve heard a lot of good comments about. A single call to their customer support center and they guided me all the way to the requirements and charges associated with this new USB device. Visiting their office and paying a small fee was all I had to do and I was the owner of a brand new Wateen USB dongle. Pretty easy Yeah!

The package included User Guide, an installation disk, USB Dongle and a connector. That’s it! I installed the software, plugged the device and entered the given Login & Password and I was connected straight away. My main focus was to check whether it’s browsing is better than PTCL EvDO because this is what I was comparing Wateen’s new USB device with and I was quite happy to find out that Wateen’s browsing was relatively faster than PTCL EvDO which is 3.1 Mbps.

Downloading speed is around 125 – 150 KBps which lacks if we compare it with EvDO. I’m now going to compare Wateen USB device with couple of other wireless providers so that you guys can make up your minds easily.

USB Dongle Price Comparison

The best part is that you can get a USB device with 15 days money back guarantee. All in all I’m a satisfied customer and one of the main reasons why I’m happy is the low price and prepaid availability, which allows me to stop using it any time and I don’t even pay unlike other service providers where we have to pay monthly no matter if we don’t use it. Though, I hope they will continue to provide superior customer support as this in my opinion plays a vital role in making/losing a customer.

I tested the Wateen USB in Karachi, Islamabad and then Abbottabad. I was amazed at its performance. I was especially not expecting it to work in Abbottabad at all as its a small city but I was getting download speeds up to 140 kbps.

I did have a problem when I tried to use it in a moving car. I read somewhere that there are multiple versions of WiMAX and the version used by Wateen only works when u r not on the move.

Someone told me that Witribe works on the move. Dunno for sure though.

You can use Wateen USB Dongle but your Fiance should confirm that whether her area is in Wateen’s range or not. Wateen works well normally but there were some issues with them in the past. For example, for few months, I was not able to use Wateen because there were some technical work going on for months. That really annoyed me. Also Wateen has maximum connection of 1 MPBS, which might also affect the audio/video experience.

If your Fiance lives in Karachi, then you might want to read some reviews about Worldcall and also Qubee. I haven’t used them so, I can tell anything about them.

Mr jawad ask your wife to get a 4mb dsl connection then you will face no problem at all while having voice chat with your fiance…
