Firefox 3.6 Final Version Released – Personas Introduced

Mozilla has launched its latest version for the Firefox. Firefox 3.6 is without a doubt the fastest release ever. Built on Mozilla’s Gecko 1.9.2 web rendering platform, which contains added improvements for web developers, add-on developers and users. Main purpose of this version is to run smoothly on small device operating systems.

Personas:

The main feature in this new release is called “Personas” which are also known as light weight themes. Unlike other themes Personas only changes the status & Toolbar backgrounds without the need to restart the browser, which makes it easier to preview personas in Mozilla add-ons.

Personas

Personas have been downloaded 10 million times before they were added as a default feature in Firefox add-ons. More than 30,000 personas are available for download. Options to load your own persona by selection few files from your computer, and browse personas in add-ons definitely can attract visitors.

Manage Personas

Another minor but important change is that Firefox doesn’t create a new window if non-content windows like download manager or Add-on manager are open, it would rather restore the last closed window.

Other Key Features of release 3.6

  • This new release comes with 70 different languages and people would love to have a browser in their own language.
  • Protection from out dated plug-ins for safe browsing is another key feature.
  • Browser start-up time, JavaScript performance and overall responses have been improved.
  • Web developers can now manage to run scripts asynchronously for a quick load time.
  • New CSS attributes have been supported.
