A new Search icon has been added to Google’s free webmail service “Gmail” which enables users to perform searches from within the interface with the ability to copy results into the email or instant conversations. There has been no information about when this feature is/was released.
You can enable this feature by going to “Settings” > “Labs” > “Google Search”
Once enabled, you can find the icon in top toolbar of “Compose Mail” interface along with other tools of customizations like Font color, font size, background color etc.
When clicked on “Search web” icon a search box pops up on the right corner of your Gmail inbox. When a search is performed a small arrow appears in front of the results with different options.
Paste Results: This pastes the whole result of the search in either your email or chat conversations.
Paste URL: It pastes the URL in email or chats.
Send by Email: This option send the results through an email.
If you are in a chat with someone, another option will appear.
Send to user (Name of the person): This will send results directly to your friend via the chat box.
For regular Gmail users this feature surely can save some time.
