Twitter Usage Increased 33% in Summer

The recent reports from Twitter says that the number of there registered users has exceeded 145 million. Although these numbers are quite big, the question arises here is how much is Twitter actually being used? The activity on Twitter has increased in recent times and it still increasing.

In August, the number of processed tweets on Twitter was around 2.64 billion, a significant increase of 33% over May. This is really a good increase over just a summer. It is estimated that an average of 85 million tweets passed through Twitter every day in the month of August only.

If we expand our studies to the whole year, we will come to know that the overall increase is almost doubled this year, i.e. in August alone the number of tweets were 115% more than January.

For Twitter, last year was considered as the breakout year for its services. Apparently, Twitter seems to gain some fame, but this rapid growth can put a lot of pressure in its infrastructure. Whatever the circumstance would be, Twitter is moving into its own custom data center this fall ready to face all the challenges.
