How to “Friend” Someone on Facebook Without Revealing

Most of you are the big fans of Facebook as it is perhaps one of the largest online social networks. It is often happened that you don’t want someone particular such as your parents, co-worker or even worse your boss, to be on you friend list or don’t him/her to see your status updates.

Facebook2 300x210For many people this may not be the big issue, but there are people who really don’t want these people to know about their online activities. For instance, if you are working in a Domino’s Pizza and you don’t want to your boss to know that you have recently become the fan of Papa john’s. Now the main point is what you will have to do in order to keep your Facebook status updated but at the same time without revealing to others.

  • To start with, on your Facebook homepage, you will find “Account” menu on the upper right corner of the page. Click on Settings, you will get a list of options. Select “Privacy Settings.”

Privacy Settings

  • Clicking on the Privacy Settings will open a new page with following options: Profile, Search, News Feed, and Applications. You need to select the Profile as you want to edit your Profile Privacy Setting.

  • On opening the Profile Privacy Setting Page, you will notice that your profile is limited to your friends and your network, by Default. You can edit all this information according to your requirements.
  • As you are here to edit your Status Updates settings, you need to click on to the drop-down menu and select “Customize” there.

Status Updates

  • In the Customize menu, you will find a list of “Except These People” at the bottom dialog. What you need to do is simply add the name of the people whom you want to restrict from viewing your Status Updates or any other online activities.
  • Your edited setting will be saved and now feel free to do whatever you want to on your Facebook. The restricted people will not be able to see your Facebook activities.
