According to the data released by Federal Bureau of Statistical Data, the import of mobile phones rose 100% to $180 million (as of July-Nov 2010 Period) as compared to previous year $91 million. Industry sources say that the rich are buying expensive mobiles where are middle classes are going for low cost sets. Many consumers prefer to buy Chinese handsets because these are inexpensive and almost carry out all the tasks of standard handset.
Sales of other cell phones related accessories, such as memory cards, headphones, casing covers, and others are also increasing so does the import.
A country which is facing many issues like poverty, inflation, low purchasing power, price hike, etc., the statistics seem astonishing.
