How HTC Flyer Tablet Fairs Against iPad 2

Apple’s supremacy in tablet segment is not new and has often been challenged by the likes of Samsung, Blackberry and now HTC. HTC Flyer is another tablet that has hit the international markets and positioned against iPad 2. In order to better understand the key differences amongst the two the following parameters should be referred.

Screen

HTC Flyer has a 7 inch screen compared to iPad which offer fuller screen base at 9.7 inches (diagonally). However, it has been noticed that the end users prefer broader tablet screens therefore the 7 inch model will not prove effective for the main stream users. Those who wish flaunting their gadgets for fun will probably find more value in HTC Flyer for its better portability reasons.

HTC’s display is superior to iPad 2 and stands at 170 pixels per inch. iPad 2’s display is only 132 pixels per inch. As a result slightly sharper and finer picture quality can be experienced by HTC Flyer users.

Size & Weight

The dimensions of HTC Flyer stand at 195X122X13.2 mm while that of an iPad 2 are 241X185X8.8 mm. iPad 2 weighs around 607 grams in size and is much lighter than HTC Flyer and sleeker too.

Processor

HTC Flyer is powered on 1.5 GHz Snapdragon processor on Android 2.4 platform. Apple’s iPad 2 is based on 1GHz A5 SoC. The latter provides enhanced graphics support when compared to HTC. Apple’s iPad was launched on iOS 4.3 but can be upgraded to iOS 5 in just about no time at all on the move. Apple’s OS is stable and superior than Android at this point in time.

Camera

iPad sports rear 0.7 MP camera with HD recording at 720 p while the frontal is VGA quality camera for FaceTime video calls. HTC Flyer has a superior cam support than iPad 2. It has a 5 MP rear camera and a 1.3 MP frontal camera for video calls.
