Google+ Launches ‘Who Can Notify You’ Feature

Google is really working hard to make its social platform a strong competitor of existing social networking giants. Google has already introduced some changes and improvements to its social platform in response to the users’ suggestion and feedback. Google recently introduced a new feature for its users to deal with the spammy notifications called ‘Who can notify you’.

Google+ Games Product Manager, Satyajeet Salgar explains that the new settings will also apply on the games’ notifications. The Software Engineer at Google, Kathleen Ko wrote in her Google+ post that the new feature has been introduced in light of the G+ users requesting for privacy controls.

Google Plus Who Can Notify You

Kathleen Ko further explains that the new feature control notifications from posts as well as when a user share something with you individually, select ‘Notify about this post’, mention your name, send invite to a hangout, and/or invite you to play or send messages from a game.

However, a notification will still be sent to you whenever a user comment on any of your post or invite/add you to a circle. You can still customize these settings according to your like in the Google+ settings. Google has introduced this feature just recently and it may take some time to appear on your profiles, however, some of you may already have on your profiles.

Google is remarkably doing its job by responding quickly to the users’ request. The spammy notifications were previously bugging a lot of G+ users and they didn’t have any other choice to click away the little red notification numbers again and again. The situation was worst for those who have over thousands of followers. Getting unwanted notifications on regular interval is certainly very annoying and irritating.

The way Google is promoting and working on its social network is pretty impressive. The interactive approach is worth all. It has been noticed that majority of the features and improvements made in Google+ until now are based on users’ requests and demands. Such an approach is making Google’s social platform an interactive service, where users adapting the platform according to their likings – so far so good.

Previously, we have seen the Google introducing comments disabling and post locking feature in response to users’ requests. What we can assume that Google is carefully playing its cards. It knows that the only way to progress is by keeping its users happy and so far Google has done this job superbly. Offering user friendly features and settings will help Google draw more traffic to its social platform.
