Opera Mini Hits 140 Million Users

Opera Mini is one of the popular mobile browsers since long time. The company’s new State of the Mobile Web report claims that Opera Mini is growing in popularity all over the world with 83% of increase in usage over the period of one year. As for October, the number of total users using Opera Mini exceeded 140 million users.

The recent statistics revealed by the company suggests that the browser has become so popular that it has been preferred over desktop browser by many users. The popularity of the browser can be obvious through the fact that about I million users actively using it every month in about 22 countries. This milestone has been achieved for the first time since its release in 2006.

It is certainly remarkable for the browser who has doubled its user-base. The month of October has marked as the most successful for the browser when it user-base have doubled eighth time since 2006.

Back in April, Opera released a statement according to which the Mini browser had hit 100 million monthly users and 2 billion page views per day. These figures have made it the world’s most popular mobile browser.

The browser is available to everyone free and has support for 96 languages. The Opera Mini also shows support for several Smartphone and feature-phones, such as Android, Symbian/S60, Blackberry as well as iPhone. It is, no doubt, a huge achievement for Opera Software.

If we have a look at last month’s figures, the mobile browser hit a massive 86 billion page views, which were twice as much from the last year and accounted for 13 petabytes of data. The Opera’s compression technology, though, cut down the average page size by 90%, so the viewed data was accounted for 1,335 terabytes.
