According to Digitimes, Intel has seemingly started informing partners that mass availability of its upcoming Ivy Bridge processors won’t be available until ‘after June’. However, the chip-making company is up to stick to its previous plans of introducing Ivy Bridge in April, but a limited number of shipments will be made at the given time. Mass availability of the chip will be possible somewhere around mid of this year.

Intel has recently informed its partners about its plans to delay mass shipments of its forthcoming Ivy Bridge processors. Still, the company says that it will be able to ship small amount of its new processors on its previously scheduled time. Also, the company will continue to introduce new products during that time. Sources from notebook players claim that mass availability of Ivy Bridge chips will not be possible for Intel before June.

According to report, the delay from Intel is perhaps because of the fact that it holding off to bring down its own oversupply of existing Sandy Bridge chips and its partners’ PC stocks, which have been selling at slower pace than expected, as users continue to refrain from buying new computers.

A good number of Apple fan-base is anxiously waiting for the Ivy Bridge to arrive, as it is supposed to be the processors that are expected to be a part of next updates of Apple’s Macs.

There are variable reports claiming that Apple is hoping to use Ivy Bridge chips in a redesigned MacBook Pro, taking a number of designing cues from the MacBook Air. Perhaps, the new design will be a mix of two ranges. There is an ambiguity in the minds of many observers regarding the launching time of the redesigned MacBook Pros and Ivy Bridge processors, whether Ivy Bridge will be available in sufficient amount for Apple to upgrade its MacBook Pro.

Microsoft is pretty much sure about the fact that it is on the top when it comes to its Kinect accessory. The Redmond-based software giant has already sold 18 million units since its launch a year ago. The company has recently made an announcement saying that the product will soon be available for desktop PCs.

In addition to this, Microsoft is also reportedly aiming to integrate its technology in laptops along with other portable devices.

The Daily had got the chance to have a look at two prototype devices from ASUS running Windows 8, featuring Kinect sensors all along the top of screen, while with a set of LEDs running alongside bottom.

Although, The News Corp. publication didn’t give us any hint of how the device could be used, a source confirmed that the devices were official prototypes of laptops featuring Kinect sensor.

With the Kinect’s wireless technology, laptops users will be able to communicate with their Windows 8 installation and related apps along with offering new methods to play games with portable devices for handicap users.

It is worth noting here that ASUS has been in works with PrimeSense to integrate Kinect-like technology into its new devices as proclaimed at CES 2012. Taken that PrimeSense adds some of its technology in Microsoft’s own offering, The Daily would have linked Microsoft’s Kinect branding with ASUS’ own developments.

Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft said at CES 2012 that its company will start offering its Kinect gaming accessories for Windows in twelve countries all across the world from February 1st for $249.99. Moreover, there will also be a gesture-based product offered in countries including, United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain and the United Kingdom.

We have tried to approach both Microsoft and ASUS for having a word on the new devices. We will get back to you with an update as soon as we receive a response from both the companies. Stay tuned.

Before the CES event, there was much talk about Ultrabooks, compact and powerful Windows laptops. The event is now live and the first to come in the category is from Acer. The PC maker revealed the Aspire S5 at the event. The company claims that it is the world’s thinnest Ultrabook. Until now it is surely is the thinnest, but we cannot say whether it can hold the title for long as companies are busy disclosing their products at the CES.

To say, the Aspire S5 is just 15 millimeters or 0.59-inch thick. If it is compared with Apple’s MacBook Air, the laptop from which the inspiration is taken for Ultrabook, is just 0.68-inch at its thickest point. The gadget weighs just 3 lbs. With these figures, the device has managed to fulfill the Intel’s guidelines for being worthy of its Ultrabook title, i.e. 0.71-inch thick and less than 3.1 lbs in weight.

Moreover, the Aspire S5 also sports a couple of Acer owned techs that assist in improving the performance. For instance, Green Instant On is used to make the notebook return from sleep mode in less than 1.5 seconds, While Acer Always Connect is used to quickly reconnect the device with any online services you are logged into before the device went into sleep mode. It also helps users to wake the device up through smartphone.

Acer has designed Aspire to be both well-supportive and functional. The curved shell of the device available in “Onyx black”, enclosed within brushed metal. The connectors including HDMI, USB 3.0, are hidden under flip-out panel. The device is in its distant shape seems similar to Apple laptops, Thunderbolt. Acer didn’t disclose anything more than ‘Intel Core’ of processor.

According to company, the device will be available by spring of 2012. The price plan is not disclosed as yet.

Samsung has recently introduced Series 5 Ultra, a new series of ultrabooks available in a 14-inch and 13-inch display versions. The latest model like all previous models in the Ultrabook range sports an Intel Core i5 processor with SSD or hard disk drives and magnetic up to 128GB, extendable up to 1TB (Terabyte) . It also carries 8GB of RAM. The Series 5 range is already popular for chromebook.

The 14-inch version hardly fulfills the requirements to be called as an ultrabook, as it is already 20.9 mm thick and weigh around 1.8 kilogram contrary to what we have already experienced in previously released models which are hardly over 1.5 kilogram in weight. The whole body is enclosed in an aluminum case, featuring opaque screen with a resolution of 1366 × 768 pixels. The Series 5 Ultra also features AMD Radeon HD 7550M GPU. There is present an HDMI port, Ethernet, VGA, USB and mandatory Wi-Fi module.

The 13-inch version, on the other hand, has a thickness of 14.9 mm with a weight of about 1.4 kilogram. For this version, the configuration also includes a magnetic hard disk of 500GB with 16GB SSD, Intel integrated graphics. Wi-Fi, Ethernet, VGA, HDMI and USB ports are also present.

The Korean electronics giant has integrated the new Samsung 5 Series Ultrabook with ExpressCache technology that enables the ultrabook to wake up from hibernation in 7 seconds. Similarly, the Samsung Fast Start feature allows the ultrabook to wake from standby mode in 2 seconds. The price of the new Samsung 5 Series Ultra varies based on the version you opt for. The 13-inch version is currently priced at $1,125-$1,298, while the 14-inch model is priced at $1,167-$1,341.

The device will be available for sale in the Korean market by the end of this month. However, it is not yet clear when this notebook will be made available in the international market and at what price.

IT professionals spend much of their time looking for solutions to fix several Windows errors. We have compiled a list of five most commonly occurring Windows error messages and ways to fix them. Hope this will help you to some an extent.

1. The connection was denied

Windows 2008 and 2003 server users normally get this error, when they try to log in to remote desktop. The error message usually appeared as “The connection was denied because the user account is not authorized for remote login.”

Fix: While setting up Windows 2008 and 2003 Servers, you are required to add remote desktop users group to the same dialogue as you would on Windows Workstation. What you need to do is navigate to Control Panel and search for System. Under ‘System Properties’ you will find ‘Remote’ tab. Click on ‘users’ you want to add in the desktop users group to allow them to have smooth access to remote desktop. You can add individual users as well.

If the error persists, make certain that the Terminal Server licensing is properly configured. If it is not configured, set the licensing mode and start over the workstation.

2. There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request

When a user tries to connect one system to another, he/she often gets this error.

Fix: This can be resolved be restarting the system or reconnecting the network cables in some lucky cases. However, you can also have some success by switching Simple File Sharing off. For doing this, go to: Control Panel -> Tools -> Folder Options. After move down on the window and uncheck ‘Use Simple File Sharing’.

If the above method doesn’t work for you, make sure that the DNS is properly configured on host and server. Also, date and time should be the same on both the host and the server. Rejoining the domain can sometime also fix the problem.

3. The action can’t be completed because the file is open in Windows Explorer

This error prohibits you from deleting, moving, or copying files from Windows Explorer. The users normally get this error because the file is already running in the background.

Fix: First of all, you need to find out what program has the said file and close it. You can opt for Process Explorer v 15.05 – a free tool to see which handles and DLLs processes are running so that you can close them manually. If you don’t want to use this tool, then simply restart your system in safe-mode. This will close the file and you can easily delete it.

4. Stop error 7B

This error is normally associated with hard drives on the Windows XP. This sort of errors usually prompts users with a message saying, “a problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.” It is normally there because of a missing essential component such as the IDE controller.

Fix: If you receive this error, the first thing that you need to do is to look for components including IDE controller, the primary and secondary IDE Channel component and a disk drive component, in your configuration. In case your configuration is based on Target Analyzer .pmq file, you have to confirm that the run-time image is properly installed on your system. You can also opt for booting from the diagnostic CD (make sure that hard drive is connected).

Furthermore, you can try resetting all BIOS/CMOS settings and restart the system. Next, enter BIOS/CMOS settings and don’t forget to disable ‘boot from LAN’ option. Shift the ‘boot from CD/DVD to the top of the list, while move the ‘boot from HD’ to the bottom. Once again restart the system and install a fresh copy of Windows XP.

5. Invalid Win32 application

This error can be caused because of number of different reasons. Users normally get this error when they are trying to launch a program or file, which is corrupt, bad or missing, or designed for different version of Windows. The same error also occurs when you try to open 64-bit program on a 32-bit Windows machine.

Fix: If you receive the error while launching a downloaded file, make certain that the downloaded file is compatible with your version of Windows. Also, make sure that the downloaded file is not corrupt. Try to download it from any other available source.

If you are getting this error while clicking on a program shortcut, make certain that the program is properly installed on your system. Also, make certain that the program name doesn’t coincide with the directory name that keeps the program. You can also try installing the program in any other directory. Keep all your drivers up-to-date to prevent hardware compatibility issues.

If the problem arises because of mismatch of a 64-bit program on a 32-bit machine, then look for 32-bit program for your system.

For all those who are thinking of using Windows 8 on a regular basis in future, this news would bring some joy for them. We have got our hands on a leaked screenshot that reveals that the new-touch focused ‘Start Screen’ will now revised and offer both color and background image customization.

Those using Windows 8 developer preview will certainly breathe some fresh air after hearing the news because the green background on the Windows 8 developer preview is often very annoying for the users’ eyes. Microsoft introduced the Windows 8 at the Build Conference and the most worrisome feature of the new OS for many people was:

Yes! Green, green and more green everywhere. Once the developer preview rolled out, users found no option to customize the background color of the ‘Start Screen’ on Windows 8. However, users did have the option to customize Lock Screen and User Tile features. What the users couldn’t change was the green often annoying background.

However, it is told that this is a temporary issue and will be resolved soon. The good news is that you can now able to use images as backgrounds but no solid colors will be allowed to use as backgrounds. However, the green will somehow be removed. Have a look at the screenshot:

We are sorry for that annoying watermark. The good thing is you will be offered extensive customization in the upcoming Windows 8. However, we are still wondering about the fact that why such sort of customization didn’t offered in the developer preview.

Rovio’s mega-popular Angry Birds is known to be a multi-million dollar grossing franchise – a popular mobile game that has already been ported to Apple, Android, PC and several other devices. The company reported that the game has been downloaded more than half a billion times, strengthening its stand as the world’s most popular and best-selling mobile game.

The Finnish gaming studio, Rovio in order to celebrate this important event has posted a video on their YouTube channel, detailing statistics to reveal the fact that how popular the game has become over the years. So far, Angry Birds gamers have played more than 200,000 years, with 300 million minutes of playing time on regular basis, reported Rovio.

In addition to this, until now 266 million levels of the game have been played, with 400 billion birds launched and over 44 billion Stars have been claimed.

Rovio intentions are to extend its presence all over the world. The opening of its offices in China is an obvious example of Rovio’s intentions where it is promoting unique and exclusive offerings to the Chinese market. We have also come to know that the company is intended to take its Angry Birds franchise to Hollywood and for this very purpose it has already hired former Marvel chairman David Maisel to make its new film. Rovio is also teaming with other retailers, such as Starbucks to reward gamers in stores.

Rovio is aiming to broaden its offerings into merchandise sales and new game releases. Rovio is growing quickly and we assume the figures will further increase in the coming as the company expands its operations to other countries.

World’s number 2 PC brand, the Lenovo Group Ltd announced its second quarter earnings today. The company has managed to beat the expected estimates. According to Reuters, “the company posted a better-than-expected 88 percent rise in second-quarter profit, helped by acquisitions and an increase in sales in emerging markets such as China.”

The company while announcing its earnings said, “Uncertainties over global economic recovery, the renewed debt crisis in Europe, and tablet PC cannibalization of entry-level consumer PCs remain.”

Lenovo reported today that its second quarter profit remained at $143.92 raised from the last year’s second quarter figures of $76.59 million. The result surpassed the expected average profit forecast of $118.3 million.

Analysts believe that the company’s recent acquisitions in Japan and Germany helped it a lot to leave Dell Inc behind to secure No. 2 spot in the third quarter. The company is now following the market leader Hewlett-Packard Co.

Lenovo took a decision to acquire the Germany’s Medion AG for $900 million in June. It was the biggest acquisition for Lenovo after it had acquired the International Business Machines Corp PC business six years ago.

Prior to Medion deal, Lenovo had signed a deal to joint venture with NEC Corp to offer laptops in Japanese market.

IDC, a research firm reported that the Chinese popular PC brand, Lenovo had a 13.7 percent share of the global PC market in the third quarter. Lenovo is now planning to enter into the smartphone and tablet markets, but still it has a long way to go.

Microsoft has recently admitted that a security flaw in Microsoft’s Windows operating system has allowed hackers to infect computers with Duqu virus.

Microsoft released a statement saying, “We are working diligently to address this issue and will release a security update for customers.”

According to many tech experts, the Duqu virus discovered back in October by popular Symantec can be a next massive cyber threat. Although, the virus shares many of its code with Stuxnet – a malicious worm that hit Iran’s nuclear program, it is particularly designed to collect data from intelligence corporations and agencies.

The statement released from Microsoft didn’t say much about the current issue, however, Symantec has found that Duqu in first place infecting systems via an infected Microsoft Word Document. The Duqu installs on the system as soon as the document is opened.

Symantec Researcher Kevin Haley said that the virus infected the PC only if the recipient opened the Word document. The virus could likely take hold of the system and make its way into an organization’s network to spread itself and also to hunt for specific data.

Several countries have already confirmed the presence of Duqu virus, such as Sudan, Iran, France, India, Vietnam, Switzerland, Ukraine and Netherlands.

Dell recently announced its new Dell Inspiron One 2320 desktop PC. Dell claimed that its new desktop PC is designed particularly for home and family users. In one of its statement Dell said, “The desktop’s 23-inch high-definition display makes it well suited for a home entertainment center.”

Dell is a popular name in computer making firms. Its new Inspiron One features an Intel i5 or i7 processors with an optional discrete graphics. It also has a built-in Wi-Fi and HD webcam. The desktop PC will be offered at different selected retail outlets all across the United States, company said.

The Inspiron One features a 23-inch WLED display with 1920×1080 resolution that makes it a perfect device as home entertainment center. The desktop PC will let you stream full HD movies as well as videos. You can also connect the gaming console via HDMI-in connection. The desktop PC will come standard with 6GB DDR3 memory which can be raised up to 8GB DRR3. It also features 1TB of hard drive. If your budget allows, you can increase this storage. Company will offer a USB mouse and keyboard standard with the PC. You can also opt for optional wireless keyboard and a mouse.

The Inspiron One also offers its user to enjoy watching TV with its built-in TV tuner. The sound quality is improved by immersive SRS audio, while JBL speakers are also available as an option. Dell also offers a multi-touch display as an option for those who want to enjoy the touch technology. The Inspiron One 2320 is the new addition in Dells family of Thin & Power solutions, which is based on Dell’s XPS 15z notebook and Inspiron 14z notebook.

The touch screen version of Inspiron One features a 68 mm thin display, while the standard model features a 66.5 mm of display. In order to present a clutter-free experience, the Inspiron One is offered with just a single power cable. The VESA option will let you mount it on the wall. The most remarkable feature is its Dell Stage, a user interface which housed shortcuts or tiles to documents, music, photos, videos and frequently used web pages right on the desktop for easy access. The Dell Stage also features a Nero-powered SyncUP, which allows you to sync content from other supported devices in your home network. Dell also offers a 2GB of free personal cloud space that you can use to access or store content via Wi-Fi network.

Dell introduces Inspiron One in response to Samsung’s Series 7 all-in-one PC. Samsung’s all-in-one PC features a touch-screen monitor and a modest design profile. It has a 16 mm thin, 23-inch display screen as well as monitor’s base. The Series 7 is scheduled to launch on October 10 with a price tag starting from $1199.

Compared to Samsung’s Series 7, the price of Dell’s Inspiron One 2320 desktop PC will start from $949.99.

Pros: it’s a split between the world’s smallest and the most powerful gaming laptop with powerful graphics, great design, back-lit keyboard, and a built in wireless HD.

Cons: it weighs 2.86 kg and with a very deep case at around 25.8 cm and it seriously has a very high price tag at $2, 198.

The M14x is the first ever 14 inch notebook from Alienware. Known to produce gaming- oriented laptops, Alienware had made a huge gamble on this particular model since most gamers do not pay attention to gaming laptops that fall below the 15 inch category. Nonetheless, the manufacturer assures that this device will still deliver the best performance to satisfy the gaming needs of avid gamers.

Installed graphics card in the M14x is the Nvidia GeForce GT555M with either a 1536 MB or 3072 MB memory. It also goes by Sandy Bridge generation, the latest quad core CPU by Intel. The buyer has a choice whether to have the Core i7-2630QM, Core i7-2720QM, or the Core i7-2820QM. Another option is whether to buy the unit with 4, 6, or 8 GB of the DDR3 RAM which is made available for the M14x. For the storage, three choices are being offered which can either be a 500 or a 750 GB HDD or an SSD with 256 GB. This gives the consumers a control to choose which specifications best suits their needs.

The 14.1 inch display has a resolution of 1366 x 768 0r 1600 x 900 pixels. This gives a pretty sharp images that can be appreciated with the games’ graphics and when watching movies. The mounted speakers complete the entertainment package that gives off a good sound for a relatively small system.

Aside from the keyboard being a pleasure to use with its big and highly responsive keys, the backlighting is fun to customize so that the colors of the logos, the keys, the ring around the touch pad, and the front grille could match whatever mood the player is in.

The M14x has the basics when it comes to high-end laptops ports: a 4-in-1 memory card slot, a chargeable USB 2.0 port, Ethernet port, a slot loading DVD drive, Display port, two USB 3.0 ports, VGA and HDMI ports plus a SIM card slot since it can support mobile broadband.

The integrated webcam displays detailed and bright images and can even be used to detect the user’s face to log in to the system via its FastAccess feature.

As always, Alienware’s impressive workmanship can be seen with the futuristic design of the M14x. With its slanted lines and appealing curves, one can’t help but compare it to a snazzy sports car. The laptop surface has a soft feel with an anti- fingerprint smudge feature thanks to its rubber coating. But what really stamps the trademark of Alienware is the extensive case lighting that features the alien head logo on the display border and as with the customizable lighting in the keyboard, any mix is possible to use with the lighting.

M14x is a power blend of style and great performance and not to mention an impressive battery run time, owning this mean machine could really make the others jealous as it is.

Pros: it’s equipped with a drool-worthy 1,920 x 1,200 17-inch screen with a fast AMD Radeon HD 6490M for the serious gamers and demanding videographers out there. Because it runs on Intel Core i7 quad core processors, video editing and graphics software programs could run with ease.

Cons: the major element which dampens this seemingly perfect computer is that its too expensive to get upgrades. A dedicated HDMI and Blu-ray is still missing, and the Thunderbolt technology being used has no compatible products yet.

Verdict:. Powered by the latest and incredibly fast i7 quad core chips, they are so speedy it can effortlessly power even the most demanding software programs available. This makes it a smart investment for its hefty price tag.

Since its first release in the year 2006, the Mac Book Pro has really gone a long way. Specifically made for professionals who are constantly in the move, this high performance notebook computer has been continually refined over the years to best suit its users.

Although it gets a little too expensive to have an upgrade, getting the high-end quad core chips is all worth it. At a huge 750 Giga Byte hard drive and 4Giga Byte of RAM, it can make most people happier for shelling out some bucks. The Core i7 chip is what makes the new Mac Book pro a powerful device. It basically made it the fastest lap-top available thanks to Apple’s smart move of pairing i7 to an AMD Radeon HD 6750M GPU. It really surpassed even those established, high-end competition in the market with a Core i7 Alienware M15x.

The Mac Book Pro still has the best touch pad available with its multi-touch gesture control. Perhaps the mother of all iPad/iPhone line of touch screen technology, the trackpad of the new MacBook Pro had become a staple for the Mac Book series through the years.

It also houses the newest high speed data transfer and display technology from Intel called the Thunderbolt in which the port is marked by a lightning bolt icon. Even if it doesn’t have a solid backbone yet as to what programs can be used in this new technology, Thunderbolt seems to be a promising high- speed I/O tool. Apple had made a prototype product called RAID to demonstrate what Thunderbolt could do and it sure made an impressive performance in streaming HD videos. Aside from this new addition, the SD card slot can now work with other high- capacity SD cards because it is now SDXC compatible, all other ports and connections remain the same inside its unibody aluminum construction.

Video-conferencing has been made brilliantly clear and stutter- free via the Mac Book Pro’s 720p built-in web cam which is compatible with the new version of Face Time which can also be found on the newest generation iPhone 4 and iPod touch. Full- screen video- conferencing is made at its best especially with a good Wi- Fi signal.

The MacBook Pro Winter 2011 benchmarks how a notebook computer should be. It’s fast, it’s an eye- candy, really drool- worthy.

Pros: This is one of the fastest PC in the market today. It has wireless networking and HDMI port perfectly made for any living room. This PC has still room for improvement such as having a free expansion card slot.

Cons: One of the negative aspects of this machine is that a USB 2.0 version is the only way for data connections. The computer is also prone to manual scanning while connecting it to a high definition television.

Conclusion: This computer is the latest from Gateway. With Gateway’s lineup for slim towers, this is very fast considering that it is powered by Intel core i3 CPU. The PC has Wi-Fi functions that are very suited for any living room. This system is fast and flexible, with its budget price; it is considered the best PC out there when you want a relatively low cost PC.

This PC does not only cost low but also features efficient power consumption. This is a trait for PC’s that is powered by Intel core I-series. The PC cost less in terms of power consumption compared to other computers such AMD based computers and the Dell Inspiron i570. Even though the power consumption differ only a little, adding it up for a month’s consumption is very helpful for those who are on tight budget. This is one of the strategies of Intel and that is to produce and make a low budget PC but is very fast and efficient.

With HDMI and wireless networking capabilities of this computer, it is very flexible to use. The HDMI port is one of the most promising features of this machine as it very perfect for everyday use in a living room. The wireless networking capability on the other hand will give you the freedom to have a more space saving machine. You will do away with the cables because this PC is built in a nontraditional way. You will just have to get a standard network for your wired connections.
The Gateway SX2850-33 is very competitive. It can surpass the performances of its counterparts. Basing it on day to day use, the Gateway has an advantage against Dell Inspiron i570. The reason behind this is the capability of Intel Core i3 to be fast yet so efficient.

If you are a user who craves of computer games, you can have the option to add graphics to your computer. There are two rooms for memory sticks for this PC. There is only one hard drive for this computer. The wireless card of the computer is at 1X PCI Express slot. The connectivity portion for Gateway is limited. As mentioned earlier, a USB version 2.0 is the only jack for connectivity.

Upon connecting this computer to a TV or HDMI, you will have to resort into graphics driver software to manually change and adjust the onscreen images.

For a budget PC that is efficient and very fast, Gateway Gateway SX 2850-33 Core i3 550 3.2 GHz is for you. It is top of the line in terms of performance and price. Just do not mind the area where it lacks compared to other computers.

The good: it’s daunted to be a smarter choice than the much pricier Apple Mac Book Winter Pro 2011 with its fast i5 Intel core CPU and a long- lasting battery life.

The bad: Although the graphics are better, gamers will clearly be a bit disappointed. Plus it has poor speakers too.

The verdict: it’s a highly competitive light- weight, reasonably priced 13 inch lap-top.

The new Toshiba Protege R835 P56X has very clean and simple look. It is ultraportable in its 3.2-pound frame, just slightly heavier than its wafer- thin competitions, but then it does have an optical drive which can’t be found on those 2 point something pound laptops.

It has a 13.3 inch wide screen that displays a decent 1,366 x 768 resolution. To the average user, this shouldn’t be a problem. Only the gaming community will complain for this non gamer- friendly screen clarity.

For the fast- typing people, the keys have deep, bumpy response that you can get only from the “traditional” keyboard unlike those flatter keys from other laptops. The touch pad is quite responsive and wide and clicking on the mouse buttons isn’t tiring as they are tuned perfectly.

Probably the most compelling feature that sets it apart from its thinner counterparts is the presence of a built-in optical drive. Not all ultraportable laptops are built with one. Even for its size, it contains pretty much a lot of ports and connections: an SD slot, Ethernet, HDMI, and VGA ports, and three USB ports in which the two are combos (E-SATA and USB 3.0). Wireless connectivity is also covered with its 802.11n Wi-Fi, WiMax, and Intel’s Wireless Display 2 (WiDi2). This makes it useful for those who have an access from WiMax towers or for some who wants to have a wireless connection between an HDTV and their laptop. The new WiDi2 can support 1080p HD video streams, an improvement to the first WiDi’s 720 p support. The only downside with this seemingly perfect entertainment companion is that it has tiny speakers that are placed above the keyboard which becomes distorted whenever the laptop is moved.

Performance-wise, the Toshiba Protege R835 has a standard- voltage processor which makes it supreme to others as it makes the processor run at full speed unlike those which contain lower voltage chips. Even with its high speed processor action, battery life is not compromised with its energy efficient Sandy Bridge architecture. The battery scores up to 9 hours and 26 minutes which beats any other ultraportable devices available by 2 hours the least. This literally makes the Protege R835 perfect for that dusk till dawn laptop action.

All in all, the Toshiba Protege R835 series represents a great value for your money. It may not give the best graphics possible nor does it have the best speakers but its total performance is superb, it’s thin and light weight, and it has more battery flexibility than the much more expensive 13 inch laptops there is. It truly exudes great quality, well- built and highly portable unit.

Karachi, July 18, 2011 – LG Electronics (LG) recently unveiled its first all-in-one PC which features the innovative Film-type Patterned Retarder (FPR) display, found in its popular CINEMA 3D TVs. The LG V300, developed in partnership with Intel, was unveiled at Computex 2011, Asia’s largest IT exhibition, in Taipei.

The LG V300 comes with an impressive list of features including 2nd Generation Intel Core processors, 3D FPR display, In Plane Switch (IPS) screen technology that creates a stunning 178-degree viewing angle and a triple camera system for superb multi-touch capability.

“The combination of the newest Intel Core processor and the FPR display in the LG V300 is going to create a new level of performance and viewing experience in a PC,” said J.J. Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of the LG Electronics PC Business Unit. “With millions of homes now using their PCs as entertainment hubs, marrying the best from the computing world with the best from the display world was the next natural step in the evolution of the PC.”

The 23-inch 3D Full HD LED monitor on the LG V300 offers vivid and crisp 3D images with less crosstalk and flicker. And because FPR does not require glasses to sync with an emitter, heavy shutter-type glasses are a thing of the past. Instead, the LG V300 comes with two sets of lightweight polarized glasses for a more comfortable and enjoyable 3D experience. Furthermore, the viewing experience on previous 3D displays was negatively affected by non-perpendicular viewing angles. This problem has largely been eliminated with the LG V300’s IPS technology, which allows for an impressive 178 degree viewing angle. The system operates a Color Shift configuration that accurately renders colors and images for viewers not directly facing the screen.

LG’s engineering team reduced the thickness of the LG V300’s active display to a mere 44.65mm, which is up to 65 percent slimmer than other leading models. This focus on reducing unnecessary bulk was then incorporated into LG’s concept of minimalism. With a wireless keyboard and mouse, the design requires only a single power cable, eliminating clutter and tangled cords. The end effect is a sleek, clean appearance that fits elegantly into any interior décor.

With three individual camera sensors to provide a more accurate multi-touch functionality, LG’s new PC brings a higher level of precision to the touch screen experience. The user interface has also been optimized to be as intuitive as possible, and the interface itself is supported with easy-to-use applications. The final result is a smooth yet sophisticated multi-touch interaction between the LG V300 and the user, free from ghosting and glitches.

The LG V300 also includes full support for Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) to enable sharing of data between devices as well as Intel’s Wireless Display, also known as ‘Wi-Di’ to wirelessly stream content to a TV.

LG Electronics (LG) in collaboration with Memjet has introduced the fastest desktop printing technology, Machjet LPP6010 into the Korean market. It will be the world’s fastest A4 color desktop printer.

We all know that the current printing technologies are based on laser and inkjet systems but Machjet is for those people who needs quality as well as fast speed. The Machjet LPP6010 can print 60 high quality color pages in just one minute in 1600×800 dpi resolution.

Apart from that, Memjet’s printers are quite energy efficient. A laser printer uses 600W electricity whereas Memjet’s printer only consumes 32W.

Official Press Release:

SEOUL, June 22, 2011 – LG Electronics (LG) and Memjet, a global provider of high-speed color printing technologies, today jointly introduced Memjet’s breakthrough office printing technology into the Korean market. The Machjet LPP6010N, the world’s fastest A4 color desktop printer, will be available this month through authorized LG resellers and channel partners.

Until now, printing technology has been limited to laser and traditional inkjet systems. The Machjet represents an entirely new category of printing technology that makes possible high-quality color printing at never-before seen speeds and quality. Memjet’s ground-breaking, high-density page-wide printheads and components enable printers to operate twice as fast but at only half the cost to run versus traditional color office printers, on average.

“LG prides itself on launching truly innovative products and is pleased to bring the world’s fastest A4 color desktop printers powered by Memjet’s game-changing printing technology to the Korean market,” said Sihwan Park, vice president of LG Electronics’ monitors and printers business unit. “The Machjet delivers completely new levels of color performance and affordability and uses significantly less energy versus laser printers.”

The Machjet leapfrogs over current printers with high-quality color outputs in 1600×800 dpi resolution at 60 pages per minute. Memjet’s proprietary Page Straight Array (PSA) Technology packs more than 70,000 ink nozzles on a single printhead — 17 times the nozzle density of traditional printheads — allowing the Machjet to deliver more than 700 million drops of ink per second on a page.

Len Lauer, president and CEO of Memjet, said: “Combining Memjet’s core technology benefits with LG’s brand, corporate capabilities and vast distribution network, LG is creating exciting new value for Korean customers looking to be more efficient and cost effective in their office printing.”

Printers that are “powered by Memjet” are also energy efficient and less expensive to operate. While competitive color laser printers use on average approximately 600W of electricity during normal operations, the Machjet consumes just 32W. Costs are further reduced via the Machjet’s Hyper Small Drop Technology. The Machjet takes advantage of smaller droplets to minimize the amount of ink required to render clean, crisp text and images at high speed. This technology results in faster-drying ink and reduces the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) by up to 70 percent when compared to competitive color laser printers.

Such innovation has given Memjet a significant intellectual property position in the industry with more than 3,000 approved global patents and another 2,000 pending.

“OfficeTime’s interface is deceptively simple, but behind that simplicity is the real power to track exactly what you do each day,” said Stephen Dodd, OfficeTime.net director. “These latest improvements make OfficeTime even easier to use as we adopt little touches suggested by our enthusiastic community. We think the best products balance simplicity with real world user feedback.”

A few of the many updates include:
