Warid Telecom (Pvt.) Ltd achieves another milestone by signing MoU with PIA (Pakistan International Airlines). By the virtue of this MoU PIA will use voice and data communication services of Warid Telecom. The signing ceremony of this agreement took place at PIA head office Karachi. The MoU was signed between Mr. Muneer Farooqui, Chief Executive Officer, Warid Telecom and Capt. Aijaz Haroon, Managing Director PIA. Mr. Shahid M. Warid: International MMS

Now the Warid Customer can enjoy International MMS facility, which will allow them to send and receive multimedia messages to their family, friends and even business colleagues all over the world.

This service is for both the prepaid and postpaid customers. Let’s talk about the tariffs and amount of data that a user can send or receive.

Tariff: for sending MMS Rs. 10+ tax per message and for receiving an international MMS is just Rs. 3 + tax or as per the customer’s GPRS package plan.

Data: the maximum size of an international multimedia message is 100kb.

Requirements: what you need is a camera phone with GPRS enabled on it and you are good to go for exchanging multimedia messages with your relatives and friends at the other end of the world.

This service is currently being offered in China, Thailand, Australia, UAE and Saudi Arabia, with the list of destinations to increase with time.

Remember for sending an International MMS it will cost you Rs. 10 plus tax per MMS and for receiving an International MMS will cost you only Rs. 3 plus Tax

Note: MMS size is limited at 100 KB – If you have MMS facility enabled with your number, International MMS is by default activated. If not the case, call helpline to get your MMS service activated.

Warid SIM Jagaoo Offer – A Lot of Free Minutes & SMS

Warid IM Over SMS Service

Warid now introduces IM Over SMS service to its subscribers which allows them to send Instant Messages over different Instant Messengers without having GPRS enabled on their handsets for ‘just’ Rs. 1+ tax/ SMS. To me its quite expensive service and who would want to spend Rs. 1.20 per SMS when they can contact them via call or regular SMS for lower price. Seriously, I don’t understand the purpose of this service. To people who want to use this service, details are given below.

How to use this service?

You just need to send to 1126 through SMS. i.e. abc@msn.com abc123 to 1126

You will receive an SMS from the service with the list of available online friends. Just reply to the SMS and start chatting.

Official: Warid Denies Takeover Rumors

There had been rumors about Warid Telecom sales to Dhabi Group on different websites and blogs. But Mr. Bashir Tahir, Chief Executive Officer, Warid Telecom Int. denies such take over. The press release further adds that Warid Telecom plans to expand its network in Pakistan.

I suggest ’some bloggers’ to research before they announce something as ‘Official’. It can reduce their credibility and reliability they have gained over years. Below is the original press release document.

Warid SIM Jagao Offer – Get 50% Free Air Time

Warid Zem subscribers who have not used their Warid Connections since 1st Oct. 2009 can get 50% free Air Time on every recharge for first three recharges. That means, if you recharge your account, you will be given 50% free Air Time of the amount on first three recharges which you can use for on-net calls.

The validity of the free minutes is 10 days. If you recharge second or third time before expiry of first recharge free air time, the next recharges validity period will be accumulated to the earlier minutes and will be valid for 10 days.

Warid Telecom Pushes 70% Shares to Airtel India

Airtel has bought 70% of Dhabi group’s Bangladeshi operations. The rest of the transactions will be finalized in the next ten days. Bharti Mittal who is the managing director of Sunil Bharti Airtel and Barshir A Tahir, CEO of the Dhabi group sealed the deal on Tuesday in Delhi.

The group is set to invest 300 million dollars in Warid telecom for the share of 70 percent and Bharti retained the thirty percent. The group has been trying two times to buy South African MTN but failed every time. This is therefore said to be their first major global buy. Warid is the one now providing services to over 64 Bangladesh districts having over 2.9 million customer base. It is also said by experts that Bharti’s presence shall increase through out the country in few years to come making the company a billion dollar investment. However, still with this happening Warid laid of some of its workers making their jobs contractual.
