Its been a while ZONG broad-casted the teaser for their upcoming brand M9 Zong. There were talks that they will launch the brand at the start of the year but still we don’t have any idea what’s their plan. Also we were expecting that some new codes will be introduced but No, the codes are the same as before. The good thing is that your “Lucky Numbers” are available. Lucky numbers are always available.

Having said that, there is an unusual delay from ZONG about this latest upcoming brand. People are getting bored of this delay. ZONG is trying to keep the interest of fans by providing them Scratch cards on their facebook fanpage like salad before the meal and we hope that the meal is good.

It is expected that the brand will be launched on 11th or 12th of this month. So, Mr M9, come soon, people are waiting for you.

ZONG M9 – Probably a Prepaid Youth Brand? [Updated]

M9 by ZONG? What it could be? No information available on any of the sites, www.m9.com.pk and www.zong.com.pk. A TVC was broadcasted today offering people to book their numbers in advance. We are not yet sure what ZONG M9 it is but assuming that it could be ZONG prepaid youth brand like Telenor Djuice, Jazz Jazba, Ufone Uth.

It is also expected that the offer will be launch in the start of next month (New Year). The webpage has an image with “Coming Soon” on it. And also “Book Your Lucky Number. Now get your lucky number with the opinion of out expert Waseem Jaffry” .

Upon further investigation, we got to know that Waseem Jaffry is Pakistan-based Marketing Consultant and Numerologist. The domain m9.com.pk was registered in July 2010 by CMPak Ltd. The TVC could be a leak but it can also be a teaser (it doesn’t look like one but it teased most of the Mobile geeks. No?)

I like the TVC a lot. It doesn’t have the typical dancing and stupid jingles instead it is very creative. Though it looks like some Indian TVC I don’t remember but who cares as long as people like it.

Appeal to Zong: Help the World’s 3rd Youngest & Tallest Man

At about 7 feet 8 inches, Haq is reportedly the world’s 3^rd youngest man to make it to the list of Tallest men in the world and Pakistan’s second tallest after Naseer Soomro.

24 year old Haq Nawaz from Bhawalnagar comes from an extremely modest background. Raised by his mother who teaches Quran to neighborhood children so she can make ends meet, Haq is used to sacrificing his whims and fancies on a regular basis. Lately he is struggling to fund his medical expenses. His story sounds like that of any other young Pakistani lad. Except, Haq Nawaz is a national asset.

Being an orphan, Haq Nawaz can’t do much to support himself or even get proper medical treatment for his health problem. Abnormal increase in height, medically referred to as ‘Gigantism’ happens due to overproduction of growth hormone during childhood. As the body continues to grow, the person starts suffering from multiple health problems. In Haq Nawaz’s case, he suffers from bone deformity and skeletal problems. Today, Haq is going door to door to raise funds for his medical treatment.

Other than being called on a show by ARY and a commercial offer from Zong (Bara Recharge), Haq has not had much luck.

It is a humble appeal to Zong to support Haq in his medical treatment. I am sure multinational such as Zong can afford more than 80,000 rupees from their hefty budgets to support this living national asset. If they have a corporate social responsibility department I hope they are listening.

It is pertinent for all of us to realize that we have already lost a great national asset in the past when Alam Channa, the then world’s tallest man succumbed to kidney failure. We shouldn’t leave Haq Nawaz alone in his time of need.

China Mobile: Biggest Investment of $300 Million in Pakistan

China Mobile is planning to invest $300 million in Pakistan which is one of the largest investments made by any telecom operator in our country for this current year.

This was unveiled by the Chairman of China Mobile Corporation, Mr. Wang Jianzhou.

As ZONG has already invested $1.66 billion in Pakistan and played an important role in generating over 40,000 indirect and 1,700 direct jobs in the country. The China Mobile is likely to invest more in the country in the coming years as the company has laid out more future investment plans.

This investment by China Mobile is also one of the largest investments made by any Chinese company in Pakistan.

ZONG has established more than 5000 cell sites in Pakistan and it stands third in terms of number of base stations which is positive sign of rapid growth.

Zong Launches New Website Design

Zong has got new layout and design for its corporate website. It seems that the transition is in process; nevertheless most part of redesigning is finished.

A new and professional look that the old design lacked has been given to its business website. The arrangements of the elements are better now with a top menu well placed. On the homepage there is enough space designated to new featured offerings, for example it’s BlackBerry for now. In a day or two we may see scrolling featured offerings.

One of the remarkable features that Zong has included in its website is a new search button which is not just intelligent but on the other hand it has a predictive nature which will take less time in loading a new page.

In addition to this, Zong has added new features on its website. Features like CS Center, Media Center, about us along with enhanced form of coverage map, career portal.

E-Care: Manage Your Zong Prepaid Numbers

Now, Zong customers who have access to the internet can enjoy another enlivening portal by Zong.

One can say that it is somewhat like Telenor’s Web Self Service however it comes with even more exciting features and options than the Telenor’s Web Self Service.

The new portal is called ‘Zong’s E-Care’ web portal and previously this portal was only available of customers with postpaid connection but now customers with prepaid option can enjoy and even manage their various setting related to their number.

Let’s see how we can register to this service?

One would need his / her CNIC and their Zong number for registration. The name you have used against your Zong connection will be used by Zong as soon as you are logged in.

A vast verity of options and tweaks are available to you when you are logged in, you can make use of these features to tweak your number as per your requirements. This portal allows you to take control of your number in an interesting and fun way.

The customers with postpaid have the privilege to access their monthly billing details but of-course this option is not for prepaid customers, on the other hand prepaid customers can have all the details of recharging with account recharge history.

A piece of advice! As this portal uses popups for notification so you have to allow your browser to show popups.

Select payment history option than choose a month and than click submit to check the details about your monthly payments, the Zong E-Care service will use popup to show your account recharge history.

There are some other features which includes, Details of account, with this option you can see all your SMS records, call records, etc with absolute details.

One thing is for sure that I haven’t seen Telenor or even Warid providing their postpaid customers with so mush details regarding their account history through their online web portals.

Having said that, I feel one strange thing with the Zong E-Care portal that for its prepaid customers only 15 days account history is displayed and here it also uses popups.

The amazing thing about Zong E-Care is that it allows you to check your remaining Free SMS, GPRS package details or even Free Minutes with next package deduction details or expiry dates and it’s all Free!

Zong E-Care also allows you to use Card Recharge option by which you can recharge your account by entering your number and the pin number on the scratch card and it’s done. You can also use this facility to recharge your family’s or friend’s account. Wow

You would need to call Customer Support Center and request them to send you GPRS/EDGE, WAP, or MMS Settings for your handset but you can save your time just by doing it yourself. Just follow the simple guidelines to activate ZONG GPRS/EDGE, MMS, or WAP.

To Activate All ZONG Services (GPRS/EDGE, WAP, and MMS):

Write a text message like this: All Make Model and send it to 131. For example: All Nokia 5800 and send it to 131.

Zong Promoting Child Labour in Pakistan

Its been more than a decade that Pakistan passed laws greatly limiting child labor and indentured servitude but those laws are generally ignored, and some 16 million children, aged four to fourteen, keep the country’s factories and garages operating, often working in brutal and squalid conditions.

Advertisement in many countries around the world help in carving out a better image of the nation.Problem with MNCs is that most of them are driven by monetary benefits and Zong in Pakistan is no exception. Responsible MNCs should play their part to discourage the trend both directly and indirectly. I was shocked to see the other day a television advertisement of Zong in which a chhota is seen doing his master’s bidding. Instead of showing brightly coloured youth with exuberance of life it is promoting chhota culture in Pakistan in utter violation of child labour laws in the country.

Children are our future hope and we do not want to see them ending up in garages due to want of opportunities.If I were asked to make commercial I would have shown boys and girls from prestigious universities and colleges exchanging pleasantries

Mobile operators are supposed to adhere to CSR ethics. Why Zong is projecting abominable child labour is beyond any logical understanding. Why state functionaries are silent on this flagrant disregard to Pakistani laws?

Zong these days is seen promoting child labour in the garb of its new package. A poverty ridden dumb boy is seen in its latest advertisement running wildly on a phone call.If Zong cannot contribute effectively for children plight in this country, least it could do is not to project country’s image in a bad light.
