With Warid newly introduced Minute Package, Warid ZEM customers can call to any mobile network and landline number in Pakistan for as low as Rs. 1.20+ tax/min (Rs. 1.44 including tax). You can also add 2 Friend and Family (FnF) numbers. A flat rate of Rs. 1.00+tax/minute (Rs. 1.20 including tax) will be charged on calls to FnF numbers. You can also get Crazy Hour and Zoom services on this package. Overall its a good package.

Warid IM Over SMS Service
Warid now introduces IM Over SMS service to its subscribers which allows them to send Instant Messages over different Instant Messengers without having GPRS enabled on their handsets for ‘just’ Rs. 1+ tax/ SMS. To me its quite expensive service and who would want to spend Rs. 1.20 per SMS when they can contact them via call or regular SMS for lower price. Seriously, I don’t understand the purpose of this service. To people who want to use this service, details are given below.
How to use this service?
You just need to send <EmailAddress> <EmailPassword> to 1126 through SMS. i.e. abc@msn.com abc123 to 1126
You will receive an SMS from the service with the list of available online friends. Just reply to the SMS and start chatting.

Official: Warid Denies Takeover Rumors
There had been rumors about Warid Telecom sales to Dhabi Group on different websites and blogs. But Mr. Bashir Tahir, Chief Executive Officer, Warid Telecom Int. denies such take over. The press release further adds that Warid Telecom plans to expand its network in Pakistan.
I suggest ’some bloggers’ to research before they announce something as ‘Official’. It can reduce their credibility and reliability they have gained over years. Below is the original press release document.

Warid Telecom Pushes 70% Shares to Airtel India
Airtel has bought 70% of Dhabi group’s Bangladeshi operations. The rest of the transactions will be finalized in the next ten days. Bharti Mittal who is the managing director of Sunil Bharti Airtel and Barshir A Tahir, CEO of the Dhabi group sealed the deal on Tuesday in Delhi.
The group is set to invest 300 million dollars in Warid telecom for the share of 70 percent and Bharti retained the thirty percent. The group has been trying two times to buy South African MTN but failed every time. This is therefore said to be their first major global buy. Warid is the one now providing services to over 64 Bangladesh districts having over 2.9 million customer base. Warid now introduces Missed Call Alerts facility to its customer, prepaid or postpaid. The facility allows subscribers to receive alerts through SMS for the calls they miss while they were out of range, there cell phone was busy or switched off. This is quite a helpful service. Monthly charges of Rs. 30+ Tax for Postpaid and Rs. 10+ Tax for prepaid subscribers will be charged.
Also you receive separate SMS for each missed call so; you can easily manage, save, and call back the number without any hassle.
