Norway’s Telenor has invested $327 million in India telecoms firm. This has taken its holding up to 60.1 percent. Telenor has taken a total of 67.25 percent share in Unitech wireless which was founded by Indian realty Unitech Ltd and will seal the deal after a fourth and final signing.
This investment will provide Uninor capital that will fund the service all over India.
Unitech also launched a mobile phone service on the month of December under Uninor. It is now operating in some of India’s telecom zones. All of India’s telecom licenses are held by Unitech and is now aiming at reaching at least 8 percent of the mobile market by 2018.
