Airtel has bought 70% of Dhabi group’s Bangladeshi operations. The rest of the transactions will be finalized in the next ten days. Bharti Mittal who is the managing director of Sunil Bharti Airtel and Barshir A Tahir, CEO of the Dhabi group sealed the deal on Tuesday in Delhi.

The group is set to invest 300 million dollars in Warid telecom for the share of 70 percent and Bharti retained the thirty percent. The group has been trying two times to buy South African MTN but failed every time. This is therefore said to be their first major global buy. Warid is the one now providing services to over 64 Bangladesh districts having over 2.9 million customer base. It is also said by experts that Bharti’s presence shall increase through out the country in few years to come making the company a billion dollar investment. However, still with this happening Warid laid of some of its workers making their jobs contractual.
