YouTube “Safety Mode” Gives You Control Over Videos

YouTube, being the largest Video sharing portal online encourages people to upload variety of videos some of which are inappropriate for certain users like children. Safe browsing has always been an issue and parents want better control over the surfing experience.

Keeping that in mind video sharing giant YouTube has introduced their latest filter to enhance safe browsing. This new tool named “Safety Mode” is very easy to apply because of its opt-in nature.

YouTube“Safety Mode” option could be located at the bottom of the page and could be turned ON or turned off as per choice. YouTube account credentials could be used to lock it on browser of your choice.

By Default all comments are hidden but could be read by clicking on them. Inappropriate words would be replaced with asterisks (standard I guess). With Safety Mode ON sometimes you won’t get any results for specific words. In order to search for those you must disable Safety Mode. Main purpose of Safety Mode is to block violent or vulgar videos.

YouTube blog says, no filter is 100% perfect but this is another initiative to give better control on what you see or want to see.

Safety Mode isn’t available for all users yet but YouTube is currently working on it and it would be available to everyone by the end of the day.
