Apple’s iPad In Pakistan

The new iPad is currently on sale in the United States; however some tech fanatics from Pakistan are already planning and finding ways to get the sleek iPad in the their hands, locally.

Apple’s authorized distributors in Pakistan are not confirming and giving out any estimated date for iPad’s sale.  Contrasting to their earlier claims, Media Center PK is not very confident for iPad’s arrival on their stores. iRaffles, Pakmac – no signs of iPad there too.

Online stores, belisctity.com and homeshopping.pk are left the only options for masses to get an iPad.

Homeshopping.PK is already delivering iPads, that’s quite amazing actually. When inquired they said they have iPads now and are delivering to those who had pre-ordered the devices.

Those who have ordered iPads recently will get their deliveries by 20th of April, 2010.

They have all three variants of iPad, as following

  • iPad 16 GB – Rs. 64,990
  • iPad 32 GB – Rs. 72,990
  • iPad 64 GB – Rs. 84,990

Other online stores are saying they won’t get iPad before July 2010.

    The iPad is a great product but it doesn’t fit Pakistan yet or anytime soon if our economic growth stays the way it… it is difficult…..at Rs65 000 is is pretty steep from a Pakistani perspective considering 65000 is about the highest people will pay for a real complete laptop….our country is a poor one and has yet to find an interest for devices like this….It is more of a leisure device than a laptop running a mobile software and the use of apps which are only downloaded through the internet and payment can only be made through credits cards and etc makes it even more inaccessible…plus its not actually a laptop….one more thing is it actually cost $500 = Rs 42 500 and is sold at 65K is a shock….such high taxes and etc…..our country needs to change…
