How to: Remove Text From Desktop Icons?

The interface for any operating system is the Desktop, which contains the taskbar, icons etc. The desktop allows the user to interact with the computer system in order to perform different operations.

The icons usually have a picture most of the time representing the main purpose of the application it is corresponding to. Sometimes you thing that the title under each icon is making the desktop appears dirty and you which if you could just rename it with a single spacebar or simply delete the name but the problem is this that windows will not allow you to set blank name or name with single spacebar entry.

The interesting thing to note here is that; windows will allow you to use the ASCII code for a space which is [0160] without brackets.

Follow these steps:

1. First clear all the text from that icon

2. Now type the ASCII code, simply hold the Alt key, type the number 0160 from the number pad and release the Alt key

3. Now press Enter button to finish the process.

This process is just for one icon however if you want to remove title from all the icons then simply repeat the above process but remember one thing. You entered 0160 for single icon now you have to enter same ASCII code two times for second icon and three times for third icon and so on.
