Facebook for BlackBerry Gets a Facelift

Good news for the people who are fan of both Facebook and a Blackberry. A new beta version of Facebook for Blackberry 1.9 is now available.

The new latest version of Facebook for Blackberry 1.9 is far better than its previous releases. It is not only faster but also offers a bunch of new features that make it more like the one offer by the iPhone and Android clients, i.e. a dedicated inbox, Facebook Search, an enhanced listings for friends and Pages and a new navigation bar.

You can get this new version of Facebook for Blackberry 1.9 from signing up for free through the Blackberry Beta Zone.

Some of the great features of the new version include:

  • Dedicated Inbox: With new version, you can now check your Facebook messages within the Blackberry inbox or a separate inbox assigned for Facebook.
  • Facebook Messages: With new version, your Facebook messages are now synchronized with the inbox on web.
  • Facebook Search: Now you can search for your Friends and Pages, which help you to send request to your friends or ‘Like’ a page rather easily.
  • Facebook Info: If you are a Blackberry 6 user, you can get the Facebook info from the universal search widget too.
  • Updated Friends and Page Lists: New tabs and thumbnails are now introduced in the new version that helps you to select a friend or a page to have an access to updates or friends info separately.

It is good to know that RIM is actually working for its customers and keep bringing updates for Facebook for Blackberry. It is really appreciating that RIM is working hard to keep Facebook integrated with other aspects of the OS. There is no doubt that there is still a long way to go for Blackberry in winning the competition against its competitors.
