No doubt, Facebook has emerged out as a large social networking website where millions of people have their accounts and many advertising companies using this platform to publicize their businesses. But if you no longer want to use your Facebook account as having a feeling that it has seriously penetrated into your privacy and security. You can easily terminate cancel or delete your Facebook account. Follow the following steps:
- First you have to sign in to your Facebook account.
- After signing in, click on the Account menu on the top upper right corner of the page.
- In Account menu, click on ‘Setting’ tab. There you will find an option at the bottom “Deactivate Account”. Click on it.
- Once you clicked on Deactivate Account, Confirm Facebook Account Deactivation page will be loaded. It may ask you to provide reason for deleting or deactivating your account. You can choose form the list or you can Click on ‘Other’ to give your own specific reason for leaving the Facebook. It is not always necessary to give a reason, you can skip this also.
- In future, if you don’t want to receive any invites, tag in photos, or group invitation and notification of friend requests; simply tick the ‘Opt out of receiving emails from Facebook’ check box. You will not receive any email invitations and notifications from your friends.
- Now you are ready to click on Deactivate button.
- After clicking the Deactivate button, the following message will appear on your screen:
“Your Facebook account has been deactivated.
To reactivate your account, simply log in as you normally would, and we’ll send you a reactivation email.
Come back soon!
The Facebook Team”
Your Facebook account is deactivated successfully. You can still reactivate your account later with all your friend list and settings intact. Facebook Privacy Policy doesn’t remove your information instantly from the backup. Your information remains in the backup for a reasonable time, but during that time your information is not accessible to people. You might have to wait for few months or year, if you want your information to be removed completely from the Facebook servers.
No matter how much the time it will take to remove your profile information completely, your information and profile will remain unreachable to other Facebook users until you change your mind and reactivate your profile again.

I was thinking to close my FB account but was not sure how to do it. Thanks a lot.
