11-inch MacBook Air Launched by Apple

MacBook Air, when first released by Apple, it gained a lot of applause and people were really amused watching it. It is the thinnest and smallest laptop launched by Apple and was almost close to an ultraportable laptop. Though the cost of this is three times extra than a normal netbook, many people referred it as an answer to the rising market of netbook. Apple has launched this laptop into the arena of ultraportable devices and says that this device is not a netbook and a netbook from the company is yet to come. The MacBook Air measures about 11 inches, which is smaller in about two sizes than the MacBook Air original and costs around $1,199. Though a speedy SSD (solid-state drive) and dual USB ports are squeezed into the laptop, it didn’t turn up to be that featured packed gadget as the other devices from the family of MacBook, but the cost of the laptop is almost same as those. Still this laptop gained so much popularity that the remaining such devices may be pushed back.

MacBook measures about 11.8”x7.5”, which is so slender and sleek, where the thickness of the device is amazingly shaved off. Actually some other laptops that are based on Windows such as Acer Aspire and Asus UL20FT-A1 look similar to Apple’s MacBook but the factor of thickness was tremendously trimmed by Apple and hence those laptops look like giants when placed side to MacBook Air. It is almost hard to measure how slender the device is unless you handle and carry it. You can compare it with any thinnest object in your room. It is lighter in weight too, measuring about 2.3 pounds, less than any of those light weighted laptops in the market now. Steve Jobs says that the construction of MacBook Air is just like the “magic”. The complete body of the MacBook Air is made with Aluminum thus making it mostly ruggedized.

The size i.e. 11.6 inches and resolution of 1,366×768 is new for Apple’s devices and to that matter new to all the latest laptops based on Windows, hitting the market. The aspect of 16:9 ratio was first confirmed by MacBook Air of Apple. To tell you this sets a standard in dimensions for the coming up devices. Its sharp screen and superb viewing angles make it an awesome device.

Coming to the feature of keyboard, it has chiclet sized keys which are flatter than usual. A signature track pad of Apple and outsized click pad are included, which are impressive. Though the clickpad appears to be compressed, navigating experience it provides is awesome. The keyboard is not backlit. MacBook Air features a slot for SD and also a port for Ethernet, where these features are not seen in the eleven inches laptop. Though the optical drive is not present with the MacBook Air, an external drive can be bought and attached. SSDs have replaced those hard drives that spin, in this laptop. The feature called “Instant-On” is mimicked with the laptop. Though the feature of SSD has its own benefits, there are certain limitations in capacity of the laptop. It is featuring an Intel core 2Duo SU9400 1.4 GHz processor, which is the Intel technology’s previous-generation one. To encode one video this device is taking four times more time than other devices like the Toshiba model T235-S1350. Memory of the laptop is also less when compared to other laptops. Hence memory and processor are the drawbacks of the device. The 35WH battery built in the laptop is almost equal to 4-cells. This battery backup, when compared to other laptops like Toshiba, it is a drawback.
