Acer on Track for More Android Phones in 2010

The first cellular phone of the Acer Company is being launched this week and this mobile phone runs the Android Operating System from Google. This phone hit the market and the phones are been sold out. There is some information that the company is going to launch many more handsets based on Android, hopefully from next year, as per a report from the Acer’s spokesman. The second largest maker of the PC brands in the world, the Acer, entered into the market of cellular phones, with about 10 models this year that are Android based, except for Windows Mobile OS from Microsoft.

In an interview to Reuters, Aymar said that there will be more balanced launches in the coming year. He also said that some energy is there behind the Android definitely and the swiftness is pretty much faster than that many people have expected a year ago.

He also said that the company doesn’t wish or plan to utilize some other mobile operating systems. As per a research done by Canalys firm, about 3.5% share of the world’s smartphone market is taken up by Android as per this quarter results in September as compared to those results of the previous 12 months.  At the same time, there is about 8.8% of fall in the market share of Microsoft firm, which was about 13.6% last year.

Another chief officer of Acer told that the company is intending to follow any of that top mobile phone manufactures in the world, which come up with 50 to 100 new mobile handsets, almost every year. He also added that the optimum target set by the company is about 8 to 10 devices, where they feel comfortable working with.

The swift development in the industry of smartphones made it a battleground amid the PC manufacturers and the standard handsets manufacturers and the PC manufacturers, where even companies like Dell, Lenovo, Asustek etc are gazing at the growing market of smartphones.  Due to this competition the price of the smartphones fall eventually and the customers are the benefiters with this.

On contrary to this, the handset manufacturer, Nokia, came down in to the field of PC making recently and the firm’s laptops are being sold in the market.  The greater margins in the profit in smartphone business brought many PC makers into this field.

About 40 operators are selected by Acer, who is going to vend the handsets made by Acer. Acer is aiming to make 6-7% of smartphone industry in coming years and even the consumer will be benefitted by huge number of cheap mobile phones.
