If user has full control over the application then how application can be dangerous for other users. It is fully secures and protected. After some time some more will also be added to the application to make it more protective for the users.

You can also make visualize yourself for a particular group only. But the condition is you should know how to use settings properly. The criticism by ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) is that it opened the data and application to other connected sites. Because of this other application access the information of the users. But it is not true facebook is safe and it does not disclose data to other sites. The overall conclusion says facebook applications and services are safe. The concept is just misunderstood by ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union).
