HTC Desire vs. Samsung Galaxy

Samsung Galaxy S and HTC Desire both run Android. Each one of it has its own marvelous merits and hence choosing one among them is difficult. Here are all the details about them and one can select the one of their need.

Design and build

HTC Desire has an ultimate swish and classy design, yet looks simple. The built of it is mainly by rubberized plastic which makes it tough. The optical track pad in it, shuns the trackball to make the built simple and elegant. It has got tactile keys in the model, which is better when compared to touch sensitive ones of Nexus One.

Samsung Galaxy is a bit smaller than desire and 10 mm thin. It is made with plastic but gives a hard feel. At the bottom of the phone, there are capacitative buttons, which makes the phone look classy.

Data Storage

Samsung Galaxy S has an internal storage of 8 GB or 16 GB. So one can have abundant space to store the data, where as HTC Desire has got only 512 MB storage on board. Both can be extended up to 32 GB memory.


Both mobiles employ 1GHz processor, which allows very quick browsing. Samsung Desire uses the Humming bird processor while the HTC Desire uses Qualcomm processor. This allows smooth and consistent video playback.


Galaxy S has a superb 4 inch AMOLED screen where as HTC Desire features a 3 inch AMOLED screen. It’s a dream come true watching media on Galaxy S handset, although it is difficult to watch it in strong light. HTC Desire too has a very clear view for images on its screen.

Battery life

Both Galaxy S and HTC Desire have almost same battery life of about 390 minutes over 3G NETWORK. Surprisingly, Galaxy S gets discharged less on watching media rather than while using other applications.


Both have almost same connectivities like Bluetooth 3.0, 3G, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi and GPS. HSDPA of up to 7.2 Mbps is seen in Galaxy S, where as it is 2 Mbps in Desire, similar to iPhone 4.


Galaxy S provides applications such as “Today in history”, games like “Asphalt 5: etc.

As HTC Desire uses HTC’s sense UI, it has access to old widgets also along with the Android market. Users of Desire can save apps to the storage memory, with the update of Android 2.2.

HTC Desire is considered to be the best competitor to iPhone 4, in the present market. With the advent of Samsung Galaxy S and its boosting sales, a question of best among the two phones has raised.
