KT to Offer Samsung Galaxy K Smartphones in October

The largest provider of internet services and phones of South Korea, the KT Corp., declared that it will sell Galaxy K Smartphones from Samsung Electronic Co’s, from this October. The KT spokeswomen, Kim Yoon Jeong, through the telephone line this September, said that the details regarding the price of the phone and the date of its launch in October is not yet confirmed officially.

KT is the sole provider of Apple’s iPhone, throughout South Korea. With its latest offering, this company holds two best selling models in the market of Smartphones today. The aim of KT is to kick off the conking revenue growth from land line telephone calls. This is made possible by raising the data usage from internet connectable handsets.

Chun Young- Hwan, a Seoul based analyst, working for Shin- young securities Co., said that the sales of the smart phone from KT, depends on the subsidy for the carrier given by Samsung. Other two mobile phone service providers in South Korea, the LG U plus Corp. and the SK Telecom co., sold more than 1 million units of Samsung’s Galaxy Smart phone series in September. This replaced the iPhone in the in the country, as the most popular smart phone.

The specifications and functions of Galaxy K may be same as that of the galaxy U smart phone from Samsung, with some modifications in it. Galaxy K runs Android 2.2 operating system. The company says that the Galaxy K will have Bluetooth, adobe flash player and Wi-Fi connectivity. It has a facility of extendable memory card to store the data up to 8 gigabytes by using an external memory card. It has got video- recording facility up to 720p, a Touch Wiz 3.0 UI, an ARM cortex A8, 1 GHz processor. It has 2GB ROM and a 512 MB RAM. It supports GPS and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g. The expected date of the release of Samsung Galaxy K might be in October. It also has FM radio.

Samsung Galaxy K, a newer version of Samsung Galaxy S, is creating many expectations in the minds of gadget freaks. This mobile comes with a 3.7 inch touch display screen, which is seen in Galaxy U version. 900000 units of older version of smart phone were sold and the company claims that about 12,000 units of the new model are sold and around 200000 pre- orders are to be delivered to the consumers.

It is expected that KT’s relatively weak smartphone line will be strengthened by the sales of Galaxy K in the market now. Galaxy K is probably a tribute to the carrier’s name. The price tag may be same as that of Samsung’s Galaxy S, but is not declared by the company yet. The launch of this smart phone is awaited by the gadget lovers all over the world, to see its new applications and services. The company too is trying to keep up the services and bring a competitive smartphone in to the market.
