LG Electronics said in a statement today that it would ‘actively respond’ to a lawsuit filed by Sony that seeks to stop mobile phone shipments to the United States by the South Korean firm.
Sony filed a patent infringement suit against LG, claiming that the mobile phones sold in the United States had used its technologies without permission.
LG said that it will decide upon actions after reviewing the technologies in question.
Sony’s complaint was filed with the US International Trade Commission, which is in a position to ban imports of products found to violate US patents, and also with a federal court in Los Angeles where they are seeking damages.
Of late, LG’s mobile business has been under constant pressure due to its slow responses to the fast-growing smartphone market.
