Microsoft Releases SharePoint, Office 2010 Betas

The Microsoft office 2010 beta version and Microsoft SharePoint 2010 are available presently in the market. This was announced at the PDC (Professional Developer Conference), this Wednesday by Microsoft at Los Angeles. The various versions of 2010 related to Project, Office Web and Visio applications for the business customers and home users are also available presently at www.microsoft.com/2010. The mobile clients of the Windows are also obtainable now in beta through the Marketplace of Windows. The shipping of these products will be mostly in the early next year.

A senior vice-president of Microsoft, Kurt DelBene, discussed the plans of the company to form an “integrated business platform” linking the experience of productivity on various gadgets as services online or as onsite. He also added that already the company is having more than 1 million users paying for the business productivity of the company’s online service (BPOS) and few versions of SharePoint and Exchange which are hosted by Microsoft.

The Outlook social connection is the new characteristic in the Microsoft’s Office 2010 that brings business collaboration, communications history and feeds of Social networking into Outlook by supporting servers of SharePoint and Windows Live. The social connector of Outlook SDK is also released by Microsoft which enables the developers to design connectors to other third-party social networking sites. The foremost social networking site that is going to participate in this is LinkedIn.

The director of the wing product management in LinkedIn, Elliot Shmukler, said in his a post of his blog, that the company believes strongly that the user can be benefitted more effectively if the users have a professional network handy and the online identity of the user can be leveraged even in the job the user does on the daily basis. He also added that the Social connector of Outlook will make the professional network of LinkedIn right down to the user’s place directly from the inbox of the email.

DelBene also said that there is better integration presently between the Visual studio and SharePoint 2010 versions such that it is made easy for the developers to make the projects.

The SharePoint’s general manager, Derek Burney, showed how to create the SharePoint Package directly by Visual studio service and how to import a solution package from SharePoint, a record with almost all basic outlines regarding the SharePoint site. The integration of the services with VS21010 was also demoed by Burney which produces the Silverlight apps that run over SharePoint.
