Nokia to Limit Maemo to One Handset

As per a report from Reuters, another Smartphone is going to have Linux software by Nokia, probably by next year. In the contemporary years many services in Internet are endowed by the Finnish group, as a punch to the prices of the handsets and the competition of Smartphones i.e. increased especially from RIM, the blackberry maker and Apple.

To fight with the company’s rival, the iPhone of apple, Nokia is using the operating system “Linux Maemo”, as its mace. Many experts of the industry are anticipating many Linux versions mostly by next year. Carolina Milanesi, the Gartner analyst, said that this is not really perturbing thing, yet Nokia needs to launch a product which is an attractive and unbeatable one, meanwhile the company has to carry on working with Symbian. This month, N900 model, one of the top ranges of Nokia, will be sold. The Linux Operating system of the computer is potentially the high-end operating system, and the company has to exploit it to the fullest, as per an interview given by Jaaksi, the chief of Maemo of Nokia.

This Linux Maemo operating system’s open source was used by Nokia from the year of 2005 in slot of Internet computers or tablets, slender devices which appear phone-like without any relation to phone networks. Jaaksi also said that the important thing they saw is that mostly every person inquired for a mobile phone; is there no cellular connection?”

The operating system of Maemo will be updated completely with integrating the Qt technology fully into the OS, so that the software developers will have an opportunity to make single application that can be used for many operating systems, support for iPhone like devices with capacitative touchscreen, and rigid integration for services of Nokia.

One of the analysts from Strategy Analytics, Neil Mawston, said that introducing a single Maemo model for the total year of 2010 will not be a big problem if at all a killer phone against iPhone is developed by Nokia with an excellent usability and a standout design. He also added that this Symbian OS will be upgraded soon, may be in around 6-18 months from now, such that there will be ample time available for Nokia to concentrate on the critical task.

One of the Spokesmen of Nokia said that Symbian will be their choice as the smartphone platform and the company is strictly committed to it.  So a phone with this OS and many added features hopefully will be launched soon.
