Rhapsody 2.0 (iPhone OS)

Unlimited use of 9 million songs, for as low as $9.99 per month, is offered by Rhapsody 2.0 for iphone.  iTunes does not give that offer.  This indeed is a great addition to an iPod touch or iPhone with the huge offline playback and music catalog.  When the phone is engaged in other things, it cannot play music.  It is capable of making your phone a gateway for large music library for a third party music app for OS devices of iPhone.

Total control unlike free radio apps- Pandora and Slacker can be here: in the order of your liking, the songs are selected to hear them.  Your interaction with music is totally changed, like having best of the iTunes.  Albums or artists may be picked up or dropped just in a wink.  Versions of desktop and various other phones are available with Rhapsody, your library can be swapped between devices.  For a slight extra of about  $5, connection is accessed for three mobiles.

Interface and Use

Password and user name is given for  input for the first of loading up the app.  Interface of Rhapsody is intuitive and clean.  You can choose among Settings, search, Browse, My Library and Queue from a black bar across the bottom of the screen that help to navigate.  Queue helps playlists. My Library allows access for songs that were added manually, albums and artist.  Popular songs and artist along with new songs are seen in Browse.

The control panel or the Queue can give forward or backward swipe from Playing mode to artwork.  More options are obtainable with a tap and one such directs to the iTunes Store from the subscribed songs from Rhapsody or even after the lapse of the same can buy. 3.5 mm headset jack of the iPhone gives extremely fine output though any standard headphone gives a fairly satisfactory performance.

Offline Playback

Addition of an offline playback mode is the best up gradation in 2.0 version a feature that is offered for the first time in US by Rhapsody.  Slacker Radio is not yet through with their station converging for iPhone music app.  With nine millions songs of Rhapsody that can be taken anywhere.  The playlist of songs that was already downloaded can be heard automatically, when the Wi-Fi or 3G connections snap.  The download is unlimited in iPhone limited only by the capacity, as offline mode changes the main screen color from blue to orange, indicating the changes in the control panel about the swiping,

Queue, My Playlists, and Settings.  More offline mode features are coming soon, as announced by the company, which will add more capabilities to iPhone OS 4.O.

Sound Quality, Complaints and Conclusions

Wi-Fi. 3G or offline, Rhapsody for iPhone music gushes at 64 kbps .  This is better than radio but lack the depth of 128 kbps desktop quality.  Audiophiles may be improved to match Slacker and Pandora, which are sharper which also is improving in future release.  As of now, with assurances of improved version in future,  rhapsody is the finest third party music app for the iPhone, despite the high cost.  With the advanced version in future, this will be the best bet to offer.
