RIM PlayBook Tablet

Research in Motion (RIM) is all set to take Apple and Samsung by surprise with its smarter tablet PC, PlayBook. The tablet would be powered by their proprietary OS QNX. In many ways the tablet scores more when compared to the likes of iPad, Samsung’s Galaxy or other tablets. It would be powered on 1GB RAM on 1 GHz processor. It will feature dual camera both on frontal and rear. The frontal camera would be 3MP while the rear camera would be 5MP. Similar to iPad the frontal camera would allow users to conveniently drive video conferencing on the go while the rear camera can be leveraged by the users for recording HD movies. The product positioning of PlayBook however, would be pretty unique as it will be targeted only for the corporate professionals. One of the interesting points to note would be the price point of their tablet. The company is yet to unveil any price tag for their new tablet product. However, as per the industry analysts who are already anticipating serious competition in the arena the price tag should be in the range of $400-$600. Any lavishly kept price tag will not fly amongst the users as there are one too many competitive options available from manufacturers of similar league. PlayBook not only covers the lagging aspects that Apple failed to provide in iPad but also has some of the high end support features. For instance, PlayBook would support Flash and HTML5 format too. The tablet would also support 3G, Wi-Fi networks and would be compatible with Blackberry Enterprise server.

Amongst the stiff space of tablet market the service providers who are able to offer more to the users in lesser price tag can be assured better bottom line and top line sales. The customers should act in an informed manner and they should take intelligent decisions while planning to benefit from the best in class tablets on the go in a seamless manner. Over the years, blackberry has ruled the space amongst the corporate groups for its flagship mobile phone product. However, as the market has evolved more players have entered the arena and have made the space competitive. At the same time, customers have benefitted to a greater deal from the scenario. RIM would soon be rolling out their PlayBook in the international markets. It would be pretty interesting to note the user response to the tablet. On paper it would look the best tablet to buy in terms of overall rich features. However, the price of the product, user friendliness and app support would guide the future sales numbers. Analysts across the globe treat Apple as the benchmark in terms of introducing innovative products in the market. If RIM has to take market by surprise they need to introduce best in class products and services to their customers on the go without any delay at all.
