Samsung Unveils NX11 and WB700 Cameras

Ahead of the CES, Samsung has announced the launch of two new cameras, the NX11 and WB700. The two new cameras are said to be in line to satisfy all camera enthusiasts.

The NX11

According to Samsung, the NX11 is the sequel to its first mirrorless, large-sensor camera, the NX10. The new device will now be compatible with the company’s 18-55mm i-Function lens, which allows photographers to make use of a button on the left side of the lens to change advance settings without having to look away from the target.

With the new device, shutter speed, aperture, EV, ISO, and WB settings can be throttled on the fly.

The camera will be shipped with a 3-inch AMOLED screen, 720p HD video recording and a large APS-C sensor that will improve depth of field in video recordings. The camera will take 14.6 Megapixel pictures and will be available in black and silver.

The device is scheduled for launch in February 2011 and will retail at $649, bundled with the lens.


The WB700 will be ideal for the less hardcore photographers. The device sports a thin-camera look bundled with a 24x zoom. According to Samsung the device, in reality, will have 18x optical zoom and 1.3x Smart Zoom, which is a new flavor of digital zoom.

The lens will be a stabilized Kreuznach that starts at 24mm and extends to 432mm before the digital zoom kicks in.

The device will provide be able to take 16 Megapixel pictures and is able to record full 1080p HD video.

The device also consists of an updated noise reduction algorithm that cancels out the noise the zooming of the camera makes when it extends and retracts.

The device will, however, will not consist of the WB650’s Geotagging.

The WB700 will launch in April 2011, and will retail at $299.
