TomTom 1.3 App for iPhone OS

A new mode of Google search, robust navigation and a downy POI search is offered by this latest app ‘TomTom’ available right now in Canada and U.S. it works almost similar to other GPS devices of the company like XXL 540-S of TomTom and One 140-S of TomTom. TomTom is available at a cost of $69.99 which is obviously good buying factor with great flexibility and hence this app can be chosen as navigation software for iPhone.

The app has been upgraded considerably, with the launch of 1.0 version the accuracy of navigation has been improved by the company along with adding new features like alerting the exceeding speed limits on the road, navigation of the address book integrated to iPhone etc. text-to-speech is also added by TomTom along with latest management of graphics in landscape and portrait modes. IQ routes are also featured by this app which helps in pulling the data of the customers to optimize the navigation of historical routes data.

Even more features are added by the latest 1.3 version. Local searches of Google will also run in this app and switches between the day mode and night mode. Locations an also be added from other applications or websites. Music will also be played while navigating from this app. The real time capability of “HD Traffic” is also added in the app with a little extra price i.e. $19.99 for each year and can be bought through the in-app purchase.  The update info regarding traffic modules is given for every 3 min, and also shows other routes automatically where traffic is less.

The price of the app is also swindled by TomTom. The original version in Canada and U.S. costs $69.99. Again in the month of December, the price was reduced to $49.99 only in U.S, which again rose to $59.99. If you don’t visit Canada, it is still a good option to buy the app. A car- kit is also offered by TomTom which is an optional and a costly feature as this kit costs $129 which is surely an expensive offer. To tell you it is actually more expensive than those PND’s from other companies.

When tested on iPhone 3GS, TomTom app made easy to execute the POI searches. The new feature of Google Search is also working well and an additional assurance was offered against POI database of TomTom, supposing if it misses anything. While testing, Google Search worked well on TomTom than the Mobile Navigator 1.4.0 of Navigon.

TomTom app for iPhone works almost similar to the standalone PNDs of the company. The screen during navigation gives you so much information. The bar at the bottom of the screen displays the current speed, remaining distance of the trip, speed limit, estimated time to reach the destiny and time remaining. So this latest app for iPhone of Apple is surely a bet buy option.
