AT&T Plans 20 Fast Internet Phones in 2011

AT&T announced that it is planning to launch 20 phones with high-speed Internet surfing this year. One of these phones will come from Motorola Inc.

Since 2007, AT&T has been the exclusive United States carrier for the iPhone and is looking to expand its smartphone lineup. The main reason for this is the fact that AT&T will lose its exclusivity rights this year to Verizon Wireless who will also start selling the popular phone.

AT&T also confirmed today that it will speed up its plan for upgrading its network for higher speeds with a launch around mid 2011. The company expects to have its national high-speed upgrade largely completed by the end of the year.

According to Motorola, its Atrix 4G phone will attach to a laptop, which will enable users to take advantage of the bigger screen for purposes of Web browsing or watching videos online.

AT&T also announced that it plans to sell a high-speed phone from HTC Corp, that will be known as Inspire 4G.
