Opera to Release New Browser for Tablet Computers

Norwegian-based company, Opera Software said yesterday that it will unveil the first public preview of its new browser, specifically made for tablet computers. A short video clip on Youtube shows the upcoming browser running on Android-based tablets.

Those who are currently making use of Opera on PCs or mobile phones will feel right at home with the new browser. The Youtube video shows how clicking the Opera icon takes a user to a screen with the company’s Speed Dial feature, which gives quick access to favorite websites via nine tiles.

Opera is not the only company setting their sights on tablet-based browsers. Last year, Skyfire announced its Flash-compatible browser, which has been approved for the iPad, where their browser is aimed at competing against Safari.

This year, it is expected that quite a number of tablet devices will make their debut at the CES show in Las Vegas. Some companies expected to unveil their tablet computers include Motorola, Lenovo, NEC, Stream TV and Toshiba.
