Use Goo.gl to Know If Your Email Has Been Read

People often wonder about the fact whether their email has been viewed by the recipient or not. There are few ways that can be used to find out whether the recipient has vied your mail or not.

The first option is to embed a tracking image in your outgoing email message. You will come to know when the image is downloaded onto the recipient’s computer that the email has been viewed. But this method has some limitations such as if automatic image download is disabled by the recipient, you will not be able to know or also he/she needs to read your email message in HTML rather than as plain text.

If the above method doesn’t work for you, try this one. In case your email message contains one or more hyperlinks, you can opt for taking help from the Google URL shortening service known as goo.gl to track email.

What you need to do is to shorten the hyperlinks with goo.gl before sending it. Once the recipient reads your mail and opens the link by clicking on it, this activity will be recorded and you can check the activity by just putting a ‘+’ sign at the end of the shortened URL.

It is very simple to do. Let us suppose that the URL is goo.gl/abc and you want to have click stats for this URL. What you need to do is to add ‘+’ to the link, i.e. goo.gl/abc+ or goo.gl/info/abc to check the click stats. The graph will help you check the time when the recipients open this link.

However, it is important to note here that both the techniques have limitations and largely depends on the recipient’s response. Firstly, he/she must has auto-image download enabled and secondly, his/her willingness to open the link.

Who would bother to click on a link. The limitations are high and I don’t think the results will be more than 10%. People who know a little about Internet can catch the trick.
