Acer Releases New Timeline X Notebooks with Sandy Bridge

Finally, Acer has unleashed its third-generation Timeline X notebooks in Taiwan. The third-generation Timeline X notebooks include the iterations, 13.3 (3830TG), 14.4 (4830TG) and 15.6-inch (5830TG). Engadget reported that all the notebooks displayed by Acer contains 2.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i5-2410M processor, Nvidia GT540M with 2GB of DDR3 VRAM, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, a 1366×768 display, USB 3.0 connectivity and a 640GB hard drive.

There are reports that the 13.3-inch iteration will also come with a 2.3GHz Core i3-2310 whereas the larger notebooks will be available standard with a DVD drive. We can assume to have more options available in terms of CPU, RAM and HDD as the notebooks become common in the market. All the notebooks will be equipped with Kenwood-branded Dolby Home Theater speakers.

Although, an official runtime is not mentioned by the Acer, InsideHw’s review unit has brought to us more than 12 hours of runtime while operating in an ultra saving mode. Keeping in view the earlier models, the new Timeline X series has brought a considerable increase of eight hours. However, gaming with an active wireless connection will reduce the runtime to somewhere around two hours.

As we are talking about the runtime, it is worth mentioning here that the battery in new Timeline X notebooks is no more removable. Where these notebooks get power and efficiency from Sandy Bridge, these notebooks also feature chiclet-style keyboard, an extra mouse button and a hint of aesthetic touch like those straight edges round the chassis. Although, these notebooks are not yet introduced in United States, they priced at $1,133.
