Apple Shipped 2.6M iPads in March Alone, Expected to Reach 12M in Second Quarter

Recent reports about iPad shipments unveil that during the month of March, Apple shipped almost about 2.4 to 2.6 million iPads and it is assumed that the numbers will double during the second quarter. Interesting but expected as Apple sold almost about 600,000 iPads in just a week after the launch of iPad.

Sales of iPad 2 are running at a rate faster than its predecessor, and Apple took delivery of 2.4-2.6 million units in March. Apple is likely to take delivery of 4-4.3 million units a month, or a total of over 12 million units, of iPad 2 tablets in the second quarter, said the sources.

Statistics show that the sale of iPad 2 is far ahead of the real iPad. Estimates reveal that Apple sold about 4 million units of iPad 2 per month that goes beyond the previous record of selling 15 million units of original iPad in the period of nine months. The most surprising fact here is that Apple is doing well in keeping the supply of iPad 2 steady despite the earlier rumors that indicated the delayed shipment of iPad 2 due to parts constraints as a result of natural catastrophe in Japan.

This increasing demand of iPad 2 forces all the major Asian parts suppliers to boost up their production so as to meet the market demands. The recent trends certainly suggest that the future of iPad 2 is quite bright.
