Bing Getting More Users with Newer IE Versions

A trend has been seen in the Internet Explorer’s tech savvy users who are more into using Bing as their search option than any other search engine. Bing is an Internet search engine that belongs to Microsoft. An interesting fact is that the newer the version of Microsoft’s IE, higher will be chances that users use Bing as a search engine.

A Web advertising company, Chitika attempted to have a look at the numbers of users using Bing in various versions of Internet Explorer. Chitkia has brought to us some interesting figures such as with older versions of IE about 7.60 percent of users search with Bing; for IE6 the numbers are 11.0 percent; 14.59 percent with IE7; 16.94 percent with IE8; and the numbers of users with Bing search further go up that is 22.90 percent in case of IE9.

If you look closely, the Bing usage percentage is larger between the latest two versions, IE8 and IE9 and lies at 32.18 percent. Certainly, the numbers tend to fall as more and more users upgrade their Internet Explorers to IE9.

If the users choose a search provider as the default, then the preferences will remain the same even after the users upgrade to IE9. However, if users have not assigned any search provider as default, Bing will be set as default search provider in IE9. You can change the search provider at later time though.
