Facebook’s “Like Button” First Birthday Today

Today Facebook is celebrating the birthday of its Like Button which has become very famous across the web in just one year and thousands of websites are installing it daily.

Facebook introduced its Like button at its F8 developer’s conference. Around 50,000 websites added this button in the very first week and the number jumped to 100,000 in less than a month.

The number of is increasing day by day and according to Facebook, 10,000+ website are installing it every day, pretty identical to what Sheryl Sandberg said in October last year. The number hasn’t stopped till then and Facebook claimed over 2.5 million websites using its Like Button including 80% of the US top 100 websites.

Exactly one year after its launch, the Facebook Like Button has become ubiquitous across the web and is still installed on thousands of new websites every day.

The success of the Like button forced the Search Engine Giant Google to launch +1 feature in the search. According to a latest study, a Facebook like is more effective than a tweet.
