How to Password Protect Your USB Flash Drive?

For all those, who were always worried about the security of their data in USB flash drives, there is finally good news for them in the form of USB Flash Security, a software tool that is designed for the security of all USB flash drives. By installing this ultra-small security tool, you can make your confidential and sensitive data secure. What tool basically does is it activates a password request that appear whenever someone attempts to access your USB flash drive.

  • The first thing that you need to do is to download the USB Flash Security tool onto your system from the website (http://www.kashu-sd.co.jp/en/products/usbenter.html). When you open this link, you will find five different versions of this tool to be downloaded. Select the one saying, “Free (non-commercial/personal use) USB Flash Security Download.”

  • Once the file is downloaded on your system, extract the file in a folder as the downloaded file will be a winrar file. After extracting the files, open the ‘USB ENTER SETUP.EXE’.
  • A welcome screen will appear on your window. On this window you will find a button ‘Next’, click on it. Now assign the folder or drive where you want this tool to install in your system.

  • Once the installation is completed, a desktop icon with a name ‘USB Flash Security’ will be generated on your desktop automatically. Click on the desktop icon and launch the program. A window will appear listing all the available drives.

  • Before choosing any drive, make sure that you have made a backup of that drive already because when you install this suite on that drive, all the stored data will be lost. Once you are sure that you have made a backup of your data, you are ready to click ‘Install’ tab. A warning will appear to ask you if you want to continue or not. Click ‘OK’.

  • A window will pop up and you are prompted to assign ‘Password’ and ‘Confirm Password’. Give a password that you will remember easily and won’t forget. After giving the password, click on ‘OK’ to proceed.

  • Once you give add the password and click OK, it will again prompt you if you wish to continue installing the suite in particular drive or not. You need to click on ‘OK’. Your drive name may change automatically to Label as ‘USBENTER’. There is no cause of concern in that.

The installation is completed and from onward every time you attempt to access this drive it will prompt you for password. Use the password which you have given during the installation to access the drive. Your USB flash drive is now password protected and your data is secure now.

    This tool will not only secure your data, but also allow you to treat your drive as you did before the installation of this suite. You can create folders to manage your data according to its importance or function within the drive.
