Microsoft Releases IE10 Platform Preview 1

Microsoft has unexpectedly revealed the first preview of Internet Explorer 10 or IE10 as it’s been hardly a month when Microsoft announced Internet Explorer 9. It shows company’s faster and progressive browser development progress. According to the Microsoft, the platform previews of the IE10 will be updated in a span of 8 to 12 weeks.

Up till now we have noticed that the browser release cycle was based on about 2 years for the IE8 and IE9 from Microsoft. However, now, it seems that Microsoft has cut the release cycle to 1 year for the fact that the company has revealed the first developer preview of IE10 at the MX11 conference. According to Microsoft, they have been working on new IE10 for almost three weeks or so and it will show support for HTML5 and several other new CSS3 features including color gradients, multicolumn layouts and ES5 Strict Mode.

What’s New in Internet Explorer 10 Platform Preview 1

Internet Explorer 10 Platform Preview 1 is the first public preview of the IE10 web platform. In this release, we are showcasing support for CSS3 Flexbox, CSS3 Grid Alignment, CSS3 Multi-column, CSS3 Gradients on background-images and ECMAScript5 Strict Mode.

So far, no improvements JavaScript performance has been noticed, though the company has provided a number of demonstrations at ietestdrive.com so as to help the users who can take help from these demonstrations in getting maximum benefits from the hardware acceleration features of the IE10.
