Next Generation iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch will Get Secondary Display – Smart Bezel

Apple has yet succeeded in catching our attention. Something relatively new has been unveiled at the United States Patent 7 Trademark Office’s database where Apple has proposed a new patent for a Smart Bezel. This new reinvigorated bezel presents a secondary display and built around a printed and segmented electroluminescence technology that perform various functions.

This phenomenon is rather new for many users. This suggest that the future iOS gadgets may get a touch-sensitive bezel that have sport illuminated controls for majority of the features including gaming controls, media buttons etc. and interestingly they will appear only when some specific app will be run by user. You can expect to have a virtual gamepad or scrolling controls as well.

Apple intends to use the secondary display to introduce a set of new illuminated indicators that are able morph into various controls for work and play. Illuminated gaming and productivity controls could be built into the face-side of the bezel and/or selected back-side areas of iOS devices like the iPad.

The patent further describes that the secondary display might be “selectively illuminated so as to offer one or more indicators depending upon where and how a user will provide inputs to the gadget.”

Although, it is too early to talk about the implementation of this smart bezel, it is certainly comes out of ordinary and more likely to turn out well in the end.
