Android 2.3.4 Offers Video Chat as Well as Better Nexus Stability

Like many other mobile operating systems, Android also came with some bugs and issues (such as intermittent rebooting, navigation problems, bizarre connection icons etc) and this present upgrade is an attempt from Android to iron out these bugs and issues.

Apart from fixing these technical issues, the new Android 2.3.4 is now come with video chat on Google Talk and all those users having devices with a front-facing camera can use this feature. This video chat feature allows the users to call and see contacts using either a compatible mobile or Talk-enabled Gmail on their PCs.

Android also claims that this new upgrade will bring a substantial performance improvement and stability to Nexus S and Nexus One.

All the major issues and bugs including intermittent shutdowns or reboots, strange connection icons, navigation problems and poor battery life are fixed in this upgraded version of Android.

The reports are that the new version will be introduced in the Nexus S and other 2.3.x devices within next few days. However, if you are impatient and want to have this upgraded Android installed on your device, follow the instructions given below to manually install it:

  1. On your Android compatible phone, Download the ZIP file.
  2. Next you need to rename the downloaded file as update.zip and make certain that the file is saved in the root folder of your phone.
  3. Switch your phone off.
  4. Press and hold the Volume UP button while you switch your phone on. This will boot your phone into the bootloader mode.
  5. Next highlight the Recovery option from the given list with the help of volume buttons. Press the Power
    button to choose it.
  6. A triangle will appear on your screen and as soon as it appears, press the Volume Up and Power buttons.
  7. In the option list, go for Update.

However, if you don’t want it to install manually then be patient until the upgrade makes its way to your phone automatically and for this you may have to wait for long.
