Apple Now Holds 5% of Mobile Phone Market Share

According to a recently published global mobile phone survey from IDC, Apple has become the fourth largest cellular phone vendor in the world. Apple shipped 18.7 million iPhones during the first quarter of 2011. Apple sales for the period (as declared earlier in April) shows a growth of 114.9% growth as compared to last year first quarter which is far ahead of the rest of mobile market.

Nokia is still holding first position with 108.5 million phones sold across the globe in Q1 2011. Samsung and LG sold 70 and 24.5 million units respectively. In terms of market share, Apple’s holds 5% whereas Nokia is on top with 29.2% (a decrease from last year first quarter 34.7%).
