It is relatively unsurprising that Apple has announced a fresh collection of iMacs equipped with the latest Intel and AMD chips. The fresh batch of iMacs is available in common 21.5 and 27-inch sizes and both sizes are available in base configurations. The price of base 21.5-inch iMac range from $1,199 to $1,499 depending on the specifications chart whereas the base 27-inch iMac priced at $1,699. Among the two base configurations, the second is priced at $1,999.
The 21.5-inch version is equipped with a 1080p LED-backlit display, a 2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor, an AMD Radeon HJD 6750M discrete graphics chip, and a 500GB 7200RPM HDD. For another $300, you can get a 2.7GHz Core i5, a Radeon HD 6770M, and 1TB of storage. Also, the relatively expensive version of 21.5-inch gives you a 2.8GHz Core i7, 2TB of storage and a 256GB SSD.
The 27-inch iMac features a 2560×1440 display. It shares the similar CPU, GPU and HDD configuration as that of the premium 21.5-inch version. For 27-inch version too, you can get a 3.1GHz quad-core Core i5 and a 1GB 6970M for additional charges of $300. Also, the maximum manual configuration is based on a 3.4GHz Core i7, 16GB of RAM, and a 2GB 6970M.
There is a built-in ‘FaceTime HD’ camera in all the versions together with integrated speakers, An IR receiver, four USB 2.0 ports, audio in/out jacks, and an SDXC card slot, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11n Wi-Fi, one FireWire 800 port and a slot-loading DVD burner. All the versions of 21.5-inch iMac get a single Thunderbolt port while these are two in case of 27-inch iMac iterations.
