Hammer Kingdom iPhone Game Review

Hammer Kingdom is a glossy, colorful, and bright game based on the classic Whack-a-mole game. This game is available on various iDevices including the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Hammer Kingdom was developed by Mobomotive and you can purchase it for just $0.99 at the App Store.

This game takes the Whack-a-mole game and takes it to another level. Players now have to whack, slash, tap or even shake cute little aliens that pop up on a 3×3 sized field. The graphics for this game are quite amazing since the characters are well designed, dynamic playing fields and the title screen is gorgeous and bright.

Each one of these little aliens has a different attribute. The basic alien just needs a simple tap to defeat, others requires the player to shake their device before they tap them, several aliens need to be slashed up or down before the player can tap them and more aliens require the player to tap on them with multiple rapid taps before they are beaten. This game is quite challenging and the past is hectic with frantic and clever bosses. The learning curve for this game is quite fast since new concepts are introduced slowly.

Although, there are several flaws in this game that must be mentioned. The first is about the items shop where players can purchase various items such as health healing items or even a better hammer. The weird thing is that this shop can only be accessed when it appears randomly during gameplay on the playing field. You can just imagine a moment when you are hectically tapping and slashing on your device and all of the sudden the item shop appears and you just accidentally purchase a healing item that drains all of your well saved money. The developers should have a separate button or icon to access the items shop.

Also, at various times during the game, it would crash. Players will face a giant star boss that you have to quickly slash it in order to beat it. Then it breaks down into nine smaller stars that you have to slash first before you can quickly tap the boss star in the middle to destroy it. You have to repeat this process several times. This was fun until the third giant star appeared and split into nine smaller stars but all of the sudden the game crashed. Players are taken back to the home screen. Of course, your progress is saved but this is quite irritating.

All in all, it is a very good game. The graphics are beautiful and the gameplay is unique and addictive. Users may want to wait for a newer version of Hammer Kingdom if they don’t want a game that crashes. But in the end this game is quite addictive with a long gaming life.
