Is Apple Cannibalizing Own iPod

The gadget giant, Apple has set the tech market on fire by launching best league products including MacBook variants, iPhone, iPod and the recent addition to its family iPad. The robust options that an iPhone and iPad provides are no different from an iPod too. However, the end users around the globe are zapped as to which product from the stack is ideal for their utility. An iPod was earlier positioned as a music player with an ability to play MP4 songs only. However, the latest iPod Touch is more of a smart phone but without the phone calling features. An iPod Touch can be used for initiating FaceTime, browsing Internet, downloading and playing apps and a lot more. Then why should one purchase an iPod after all?

iPhone and iPad apps are fast trending in App Store. Almost every other app is targeted to these two products with minimal or no focus on iPod too. The app makers too have realized that its beneficial designing the custom apps for these devices than for an iPod Touch. Perhaps an iPod is ideal for the end users where iPhone is yet to be released and iPod Touch is available at 1/3rd the price of an iPhone.

In booming economies, iPod Touch will not find any value amongst the mindsets of the customers. Therefore, think methodically if you really need an iPod. Perhaps an iPad or iPhone will be the best bets from a long term time horizon.
