LG With A Touch of Windows And Vice Versa

Windows Mobile at its best

The LG Quantum is one of only few Windows Phone 7 devices that come with a slide out full QWERTY keyboard making it easier to use and type on. It also comes with a fast 1 GHz processor.  It has a very responsive touch screen interface. This handset is enhanced with a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash that can record high definition videos at a 720P quality. It has fast web browser which users are really impressed with. Another edge of this device is that it can pick up signals even in iPhone dead spots. It really has good call quality. It is also pre-installed with apps and games with amazing graphics.

Contrary to the impressive demeanour

The LG Quantum can only last up to 6 hours of talk time making it very uncompetitive in terms of battery life since smartphones nowadays can last up to a day or 2 before needing to recharge again. Compared to other Windows Phone 7 devices, it has a small screen display. There are some instances wherein Windows Marketplace freezes and it doesn’t have as much downloadable applications as the Apple Apps Store and the Android Market. It has no Java content. Another disappointment to this phone is that it has pre-loaded fixed ringtones which means users cannot set downloaded songs as ringtones which somehow loses it’s smartphone feel.

Final Say

It is a well rounded phone, easy to use and has many cool all around features. Though, consumers have issues with regards to its ringtone. It doesn’t really meet the Smartphone standards when it comes to that factor and the screen just seems kinda small for a Windows Phone 7 device. But looking at its price and functions, it is really worth the buy for.

The LG Quantum has a 3.5inch touch screen and full QWERTY key pad.  It works on GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 for 2G and HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 for 3G functionality. It has dimensions of 119.5 x 59.5 x 15.2 mm which makes it so easy to carry. The device has an integrated 5 megapixel camera that can take pictures with 2592 x 1944 pixel quality, has the autofocus feature and a LED flash. It comes with Microsoft Windows Phone 7 Operating System.  It is operated by a Scorpion 1GHz processor for fast and reliable processing speed with a RAM of 256 MB and a ROM of 512 MB great for multi-tasking purposes.

It’s connectivity features USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, EDGE, GPRS and 3G. It has a 3.55mm jack that support stereo audio and microphone. The handset can last up to 6 hours of nonstop talk time and up to 350 hours in stand by mode with its standard 1500mAh Li-Ion battery. It also features a GPS tracker and also supports A-GPS. It’s media player can execute MP4, H.264, H.263, WMV video formats and MP3, WAV, WMA, eAAC+ audio formats. The package contains the LG Quantum unit, a micro USB cable, a wall charger, a quick start guide and a 3.5mm stereo headset.  It only comes in color black and was released November 15th, 2010 with a price of $200.
