Threatened by iPad, PCs Start to Look Like Tablets

The PC market is threatened with the launch of Tablets in the market zones. It can be easily said that iPad has been the game changer in this segment and has indeed jolted the sales numbers of PC’s. In order to foil the bid the PC makers primarily HP is focusing on developing tablet like PC’s to entice end users. The overall design looks intriguing and controls are generally managed using the LCD/LED screen with wireless keyboard or mouse and other accessories. These accessories are primarily an add-on and not mandatory for using the overall features of the device.

The PC makers are comprehensively researching through the viability of PC that can look alike iPad or Samsung’s 10.1 tab and perform better functions. The smarter design integrations for accommodating camera feature, video calling and USB touch points too will be enabled externally for enabling the robust product.

One aspect which remains unclear at this point in time is whether these products will be enabled on Android or Windows or WebOS. The arena in this space looks competitive and users have clearly found more value in Android and a PC which is able to replicate the best breed options on Android will be a real booster.

The PC’s sales are dwindling down by the day and it will be interesting to note as to how it will react in the long run. Unless the segment as a whole innovates it will eventually form a niche.
