ARCHOS G9 Tablets – Release Date Confirmed

ARCHOS has finally announced the release dates for its forthcoming chain of G9 Android Tablets which hold the promise of bringing both speed and affordability in a single gadget. Furthermore, these tablets also meet the expectations of users by offering a spacious HDD options. Comparing to the specifications revealed by ARCHOS earlier in June, the only difference noticed is the Android 3.2 Honeycomb rather than Android 3.1.

ARCHOS has confirmed that the pre-sale of tablets will commence online from September 20. Talking about 8″ version, it comes with 1024×768 pixel resolution, 1GHz ARM dual-core CORTEX A9 OMAP 4 processor with 8GB flash storage. The device will be made available worldwide afterwards most probably from September 30 through chain of outlets including Brandsmart, Newegg, Electronic Express, HH Gregg and Amazon. The initial price set for this device is US$299.

The next to join the party is Turbo edition that will be available from October. It will launch with 1.5GHz OMAP 4 (dual-core processor), offering almost 50 percent more computational power compared to other 1GHz devices and 16GB of flash storage. It will be offered with a price tag of US$329. There will be another version with a 250GB Seagate Momentus Thin HDD featuring an intelligent cache system utilizing 4GB of devoted memory to speed up the device. It will cost US$369.

There is another device ARCHOS 101 featuring a 10″, 1280×800 pixel resolution. It will also be available from October in two versions – the 16GB flash storage with 1.5GHz processor costing US$399 and the 250GB HDD with 1.5GHz processor costing US$469.

The ARCHOS G9 Tablets show a support for wide range of video file formats including RM, RMVB, MOV, MPG, AVI, MP4, PS, ASF, TS, VOB, MKV, FLV and 3GP. In addition to these, the devices also show support for some audio and image formats including OGG Vorbis, FLAC, MP3, AAC3, AAC+ 5.13, and WAV (PCM/ADPCM).

Both the devices will come with preinstalled Google mobile applications including Google Talk with video chat, Gmail, Google Maps, and Navigation (beta) and Google Calendar. The devices feature a Lithium Polymer batter with a playback time of 36 hours, i.e. 7 hours of video playback and 10 hours of music playback.

Apparently, the detail provided by ARCHOS for their G9 breed of Tablets seems very impressive. One should certainly look forward to have one in his/her hand to see whether the device is actually speak practically for what being said for it or not.
